Default Type R?

I just wanted this to be tossed in with the rest of these sub's because of it's popularity. Some say they suck, some claim they're god. I just want to get some baseline results in comparison to the rest of these subs.

what kind of testing will you be doing exactly? you can probably expect what everyone says about them... they will take well over 500rms of clean Power daily.. ofcourse with proper usage.. and have nice output with the power they are given.... sound quality wise depends on the build, but its average/fair overrall(i think myself).

they'll be tested exactly like every other woofer..

rated RMS power, optimum sealed and ported

and SPL burp.. with whatever Power is safe enough for common people to use into it.

The Type R is deffinateally a good sub for the money and you can get them to hit pretty hard. For a drop in comparison test that me and my friend did betweed an Audiobahn AW1205N and a Type R, believe it or not the Audiobahn was louder and pounded the lows harder. Here is the basic info:

Type R Dual 2ohm: Rated 500 Watts (can take 1000rms easy)
A-bahn Dual 2ohm: Rated 1000 Watts
Both subs are in the same price range!
Enclosure was a 3cu ft prefab enclosure tuned to about 40hz

Amp: 2 were used, Hifonics BXi 2006D and BXi 1206D
Car: 05 Toyota Corolla

We did a test with both subs in the same Car and with different amps, first with the A-bahn wired to 1ohm 1200rms going to it, the speaker did not distort or overheat played various tones through it and music (for both) Next was the R It took the power fine, but really didnt hit that hard and was not as loud, but it was alot cleaner of a hit. Next amp, the BXi2006, both subs still wired to 1ohm both recieving 2000rms. The Audiobahn took 2000 watts with no problem, got a little warm but not to the point of failure. It still pounded out the lows loud and sounded good as well. The Type R didnt like 2000 watts going to it, sound quality was still better than the A-bahn, but as far as loudness and how hard it hit it didnt equal up to the A-bahn. So the end conclusion is that the A-bahn won this drop in test. Of course both subs were in the same prefab enclosure and were not in optimal enclosures, so that might of had a difference. Even though I do like Audiobahn products this test was not biased because I like the Alpine products as well. My friend now has 2 Alpine Type R's In His Silverado With the BXi 2006D that we used for the test. His type R's Slam hard. Pictures of it will come soon.

Clearified...
We dont care if it'll take over 500rms daily, if the majority of people wouldnt feel comfortable wouldnt, then that would make it somewhat redundant. The purpose of the test is to observe the output it has in similiar circumstances to the other drivers with the same box, the maximum power it will take and what numbers were recieved. I think people plenty will agree power handling is nothing without output
