Default Got my Birthday present early.

Since my birthday is this coming Saturday, I figured I would go ahead and get this. Unfortunately my supplier told me I should wait until next week due to the AVX2, which will be in stock then.. Oh well. guess I'll probably upgrade earlier than I thought.
Why did I get this? Let's just say steel city's videos. hehe.. and the specs and reviews I have seen.

I'm pretty anxious to install it now, but will probably wait until this weekend... unless I get to anxious

The AVX2 is supposedly better. It's going to cost around the same price (my cost, or shop cost, not sure about end user, but should be aprox the same)

The AVX2 will have a 3.5" screen where the AVX1 has a 3" screen. I haven't seen to much of a differance in the specs other than that. The front panel is layed out better (remnds me of the old dual knob headunits).

I think I am gonna enjoy this for at least a month or two.

Nice deck man. I wanted one of those. Boss decks have 5v outs.

Yea, SOME Boss decks have 5v preouts. The KD-AVX1 has 2 lineouts + subwoofer. From the looks of it, all are 5volt.

If I remember right, my Clarion DXZ-545MP had 4 or 5volt preouts. I can't be sure though. That is the headunit I am upgrading from. Going to sell it for $100 this week probably.

I've still got quite a bit of money left (income tax return). Thinking about either getting a drop down monitor and a couple more subs/amps or just going all out with the subs and amps. I really gotta get my install done before the 26th and shouldn't be playing with installing a new headunit beforhand.. Oh well.

hmmm.. Maybe I can make a DVD of all the good ROE vids, then play it while I'm recording. Doubt it'll look good though, but I think I might try it.

yes this HU can play DVDs, but how hard are the controls and to navigate the menus?

I should be able to record a DVD of R.O.E. vids and play it. Not sure if I recorded it in action if it'd turn out viewable though.

Just installed it. It's actually pretty amazing. I have to fine tune some setting and retune the amps, but other than that.. it sound far better than the Clarion DXZ545MP I had.

Navigating the menus has a learning curve from what I'm used to. I actually had to rtfm to figure out how to set the clock.

I've got a video and a couple pics, but being it is dark outside, they didn't come out right. My Car has all blue lighting (cathodes and such) inside which my camera does not like.

What can I say.... hmmmm.. Played Van Damme's Derailed movie. God it sound real nice, especially the explosions. Video was a little blurred but I think that may have been the angle I was watching it. It also seemed a little dark but I think I can fix that.

I like the 4 position faceplate. This helps on being able to watch videos and see the menus. However, in a Beretta, that can be a hassle. I may have to move the headunit up to the center air vents to make it better. this is something I've though about doing for a few months..

Sub crossover is 55, 85, 125hz. Right now I have it at 85, but after retuning everything I'll probably put it at 55. There is also an equalizer that is pretty nice. 3 or 4 user modes and a few presets (reggae, pop, classical, flat, heavy metal, jazz, and I think another one can't remember)

I have to amp my front speakers, which are in the kick panels. They just can't keep up with the subs and rear speakers. No problem with this though since I'll probably be losing the rear speakers this weekend.

The ride to work in the morning will give me a chance to test it on the road. It'll also let me know if I did the handbrake bypass properly. I was told all I had to do was wrap the handbrake wire around the antenna plug. So I did that. I forgot to test it when I got done with everything.

I am fixing to record a DVD full of MP3 files. God this is gonna be fun. I have a few 160gig and 250gig drives full of mp3 and movies.. ugh!

Will try to get a good vid of it in action tomorrow, but can't guarentee.

does the handbrake input need a pos or neg input to allow the headunit to function? ive always heard that it just needed to be grounded to bypass it, but im not sure, im kinda curious...

Nice looking deck! I deal mainly with Eclipse decks and they have to be grounded for video. I just am attracted to Eclipse decks because they are 8volt out, not as many features as yours though.

Just needs to be grounded. I found a topic on an A/V forum that had 20+ pages talking about this headunit. The one thing that caught my attention was wraping the handbrake wire around the antenna plug. Supposedly that is all that is needed on this unit.

There is also "supposedly" a special remote control that you can get that'll let you reprogram the DVD regions and some other stuff. The guy didn't tell the name of the remote though, so I'm not holding my breath on that being true.

Shon just got the vid, probably editing it since it was 12+ megs. Hopefully you all will like it. Wanted to show off the headunit more than anything, but did get some sub pr0n in it also.

It took a while but I got things tuned just about right for my liking. When I first started tuning it my sub amp basically didn't get any input. wierd. but after a little while I figured it out, I pretty much didn't even have it turned on.

Navigating can be a pain, but I'm learning it.

I played xXx with vin diesel. Once I got to where I could see the screen good, it was nice and clear. I'm probably gonna go spend $170 for an 8" screen tomorrow. Hopefully I can mount it where I want it (in place of rearview mirror).
