yeah...I went from a 4 volt output from my kenwood to a 1.8 volt output on a clarion...sounds like ass now. I had to re-adjust all my amps to compensate for the lost as best as I could.

Why get one if you're not having a problem yet? You don't know how the deck will react with your amps. Try it first, and if you have issues getting good clean Power out of your amps, then get a line driver.

buy an EQ if you want a bit of a boost in voltage

Chill man, he's just implying that most companies rate on peak pre-out voltage. So in reality, you were seeing around 2-4v depending on manufacturer.

As far as the EQ idea, a lot of outboard EQ's have built in preouts with a higher voltage. Kill two birds with one stone. You can now tweak your sound system just a little bit more.

But be careful, as some units can induce unwanted noise.

so would it make just as much sense to use one of the dsp units as to use an eq?

damn 08 noobs, theres always sumone to hassle sumone. he wouldnt make it on CA

i would get a line driver either way its gonna give u a cleaner signal and make the amp work less to get the Power out so more efficiant.

Basically what nick was saying before, was that since you're already getting a line driver… you might as well get one that adds some sort of other functionality as well.
Like an EQ, or a crossover, or an SSF etc.
