Headunits with 3 way or better crossover
 

I know about the Eclipse CD8455 and the CD7000. What other headunits have 3 way or better crossovers built in?

im sure you know of it but have you ever thought of makin ur own passive/active crossover?

instead of spendin the extra cash for the interior ya know. Just make your own and pop it behind the dash or somethin

I wish someone would tell me how to just build one outta scratch and use it in my car. Sounds like it could be complicated though.

you can look into the 880prs.

take note that there's a difference in constuction of a passive and active eq. a passive eq is rather easy to build, however it will be fixed design unless you modify the schematics. while it's definitely possible to build your own active x-over, the difficulty is much higher. however, you will still be limited to number adjustments of a diy active x-over over one found in a hu/external unit.

well, after talking to a few people with experience with my current headunit, and the Pioneer, they all recommended the Pioneer and raved about it, so I guess on Friday, I'll be ordering one.

I've made a handful of active crossovers for projects. fixed designs though.

to make the filters adjustable requires ganged potentiometers for most applications.

to put such a filter into a car application requires either AC-coupling, or a DC-DC power supply.

the split supply is the hard part. i can provide help, if desired.

edit -- the commerical unit would probably be better then the hommade one.
