Re: Wow! When did THIS come out???

I've never seen one in person, but I would really like to. I want to say that it has been available in America for about 8-12 months. I know that there were some people that imported asian market versions before that too. The problem is that Pioneer seems to have tightened up its supply chain for their premier products. I've only seen authorized dealers selling any of the new stuff, and it's priced at close to MSRP. I looked all over for cheaper prices on this h/u and the newer premier component speakers a couple of months ago. If I could find the h/u for something like $600 on the internet, I might give it a try, but no way am I willing to pay $1200 for it.

I have installed and used one, I really like it. Iam glad that pioneer is willing to put out a head unit like this when no one else seems to not want to. It is priced like the old f#1 Status was. It does suck that getting one kinda sucks cause they want you to buy all of the stage 4 products. I will probably buy one when i can.

Re: Wow! When did THIS come out???

It does look like a very nice piece of equipment. However, I feel like the entire rest of the Pioneer and Premier lines are severely lacking.

The DEH-880PRS was such a great headunit. My DEH-P980BT is great, but I'd still much rather have the 880PRS. I don't know why they'd drop such great headunits such as those in lieu of such mediocre models such as their level down from the DEX-P99RS , theDEH-P7200HD.

The P7200HD is $289 list then there's the HUGE bump up to $1399 list. Ridiculous. I feel that they should have models bridging that huge gap.

/$.02.

Re: Wow! When did THIS come out???

Last week when I ordered my Alpine CDA-117Ri + PXA-H100 combo I had the opputurnity to demo the owners Mk4 golf that had P99RS in it.

What a freaking sweet HU. Much better DSP processor than alpines PXA and 31 band EQ, all built in 1din package.
Well of course the price was over double than my Alpine, and has much better DAC inside it also. All those trick parts are purely for SQ purposes. Maybe a bit overkill for most regular Joes.

I'm pretty confident that my Alpine will sound good enough for me with full active Seas lotus Reference tweeter/mid 2-way comps. ;)

Now wheres my 18" LMS-5400 and SPL Dynamics D5...
