well my primary computer is a laptop since i can take it anywhere i go (it's convenient for my line of work/college). it's a gen1 dell inspiron xps and is over 3yrs old. yes, dell isn't the most sought after brand, however i will say this laptop hasn't given many problems. the only problem was the drive failure which is not isolated to dell only. besides that, it's been going strong especialy for the amount of hours/load it has gone through. at the time, this laptop would rival desktops...it's pretty much a portable desktop.
well here are the specs:
CPU: Intel P4 3.4GHz 400Mhz FSB
RAM: 1GB Kingston PC3200
GPU: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9800
Mobo: Dell
PSU: Dell 150W external Power brick
HD: (2) 60GB 8MB 7200RPM Hitachi + 80GB 8MB 7200RPM Seagate (not counting my 1TB external drive bay)
OD: 16x DVD+RW
Monitor: 15.4" UXGA 1920x1200
Soundcard: Tascam US-122 (when on the go, dell internal)
Internet: Verizon FIOS - 15mbps down / 2 mbps up
Audio: TEAC MC-D90 & EAW JF-60 speakers + SS 8" RL-i sub (when on the go, internal speakers with the bult-in 2" sub)
AMD Athlon 64 939 3200+
Super Talent 1gb(512mb x 2) ram
MSI NX6600gt 128mb video card (plays CS:S on all high very smoothly, also plays cod2 nicely and bf2 on med/high settings)
80gb hard drive with windows xp
aopen black case
MSI 939 socket motherboard
antec true Power 400watt
Im Borrowing a friends gateway.
I USED to have a Sony...but it blew up. It sucked anyway.
Here are the specs for the sony..
CPU: Pentium 4 at 1.8 Ghz
RAM: Kingston 512mb ram
VIDEO CARD: Nvidia TNT II
HARD DRIVE: 80Gb Maxtor W/ Wndows XP
SOUND CARD: Creative 5.1 Surround Sound Card
CD DRIVES: pioneer dvd rom and a sony cd-r/rw
I overcloked it at 3.8Ghz and It ran fine for a couple of months (like a roket actually)
and then it was like "I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!" and it went up in smoke like a crappy speaker.

How's that 7900 during gaming? I was debating between the 7950gt and the x1950xt, but after looking at the benches, i chose the radeon
I can basically run BF 2142, CoD 2, Prey, Quake 4, blah blah pretty much cranked with completely playable FPS. I only used 1024x768 because my monitor doesn't like higher resolutions.
my pc died yesterday. i am on my wifes pc for now,i just got a new desk for my shvt the same day and wouldn't you know the damned thing goes and phucts up...
