Re: Computer Thread
did you use something thermally conductive?
|
Re: Computer Thread
no? why? this is for a backplate. no heat is needed to be dispersed. only thing on the back of the gpu is soldering spots. and it wont be sitting flush right on the card anyways. it will be about 3/8'' off the card
|
Re: Computer Thread
note this is purely athletics. i wasnt going for more cooling or pcb support. i do know its not the quality of other backplates. but in my defense i had to hand paint where other people had some type of vinyl cutout to get perfect lines.
|
Re: Computer Thread
factory backplates are known to drop the gpu's temps, so they must have some effect on cooling them
I've never had a card with a backplate so i don't know where contact is made with them. maybe helping remove heat from the board thats soaking through from the front? Some gpu's do have vram on the back sides as well. |
Re: Computer Thread
indeed some do mine doesnt. maybe a backplate could lower temps. but that would need a custom cut aluminum block as there are high spots and low spots. a flat piece of alluminum will not come in contact with everything and even then how would it not short it out?

NVIDIA G-Sync Overview and Explanation with Tom Petersen - PC Perspective - YouTube
i want one. the asus g-sync monitor carries a 120$ premium over the same monitor without g-sync... 399$ is a heavy tag for a monitor. But it really sounds glorious. I HATE tearing, most games i turn settings down until i hold steady 60fps to keep motion clean. Says they'll start selling early next year, that monitor and a 2nd 660ti might be where my tax money goes. ASUS Announces Adoption of NVIDIA G-SYNC Technology | techPowerUp |
Re: Computer Thread
lol poor guy. cant show the tech as cameras record fixed rate. must be hard to excite people when you cant truly show them without them being there in person. sounds very promising though i personally dont see it worth the price premium. but hey if your a enthusiast then i say awesome get it.

Re: Computer Thread
yea idk why he didn't just shoot it with that 2500fps camera they were talking about, lol

Re: Computer Thread
so either theres something wrong with this 7870 or the power supply is getting weak. i cant start up heavy intensive games.... the game starts tearing as if i overclocked it and its unstable then crashes. the temps are not an issue as they stay below 45

Re: Computer Thread
so i got something on the blackfriday sales... an item that i got for a steal due to a price mess up on bestbuys websight, i will keep it a secret until it gets here. i would just say what it was if the mistake was still on the websight but its been fixed already. i will just say its a 350$ item for the computer that i got for 99$

Re: Computer Thread
I just sold my 32gb of 1600 vengeance to a friend for what I paid for it a year ago. Retail prices on it have literally doubled. I paid 170 for 32gb, and now it's that for 16gb.
I picked up some 2400 gskill to replace it. Newegg was running a special for 127 shipped for 16gb. I had no need for 32gb, and bf4 apparently loves fast ram. I run triple 1080p monitors in surround, so I need any extra fps I can get. haha My good friend gets his 32gb for his VM machine build, and I get the ram I wanted, some extra cash, and a case of beer. Win win situation :woot: |
Re: Computer Thread
lol dat huuuuuuuuuge case
i need to pick up a 16gb kit myself. running makemkv and handbrake simultaneously has me maxxing out my 8gb kit. |
Re: Computer Thread
