Re: Computer Thread
well for the hell of it i cut the voltage WAY back. stock is 1100mv i put it at 980mv and started ocin it. with this bios gpu-z actually shows me the power draw of the card. It seems that when the draw got around 100w that the vreg temps went through the roof. so if i keep power draw around 80w the vreg stays closer to 95c.
so i did that then overclocked form 700 stock to 760 and memory from 1000 to 1050 and she's holding strong. furmark it wont run over 70c, which furmark is unrealistically hard on the card. almost seems like the voltage isn't reporting/setting right. |

Re: Computer Thread
so.. got the 5850 downlocked enough to work in games and its still is better than the 2 5770's. i can play skyrim and nfs shift 2 maxxed and hold 45+ fps. gpu and cpu usage isn't maxxed out, just running out of vram.

Got a new case for the GFs desktop :)
NZXT Phantom Mid 410 This case is a million times better than before. I can go to town overclocking http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps5731e901.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps34e6e4c4.png Not that the WEI score means much, but 7.5 isn't too bad for a PII 965BE and 5770 :D |
Re: Computer Thread
I Like nzxt. i got the original nzxt tempest tower. I broke one of the fan filters on the front, contacted them asking how much it is to buy a new one, they asked for my address and a picture of the broken one. they sent me 2 new fan filters with the metal bracket they mount on for no charge, they covered shipping and all.

Re: Computer Thread
Remember that super hackintosh build I mentioned a while ago? Well it got completed last night. Next time I'm in town I'll see if I can stop by this guy's house to take some pics of it and run some benchmarks.
He went with the Core i7 Extreme (6 cores @ 3.8ghz I believe) and from what I hear it's blazing fast as it should be. |

Re: Computer Thread
i like it all except the ssd at 500gb =P why the deuce you need 500gb ssb for? a 200-300 range should be plenty for all program installings excluding bunch of game installs. though even my 1tb hdd only had 480gb used and i gots a total of 28 games currently installed, but games dont get any better fps when ran on an ssd, so again why 500gb =P

Re: Computer Thread
how the deuce does a ssd slow as it gets more data? i can understand a hdd as more info gets on it the closer to the outside of the platter it gets, which equals out to slower speed. but ssd is basically just a big and fast usb drive. i dont see how it can get slow by having more data on it. now i can see how it can get slower over tame due to degrading parts.
 i may just not understand ssd's yet |

i7 3770k Still $229.99 Price Matched at Best Buy : hackintosh
best buy matching micro centers prices. Great deal if anyone is in need of a new cpu, being that micro center is cheaper than anywhere by a large margin. |
