cheaper?

dood... they sell MDF @ lowes for $20 a sheet... it only cost me a tad over $35 to build my box, and thats including the port. it might cost 10- 15 to carpet and thats it.

i bought a prefab when i first got my **** because the ppl that work @ lowes and home depot are morons. cost 130 plus tax. i had two awes10p's in it getting 800wrms apiece and i'll admit it sounded great (previously i had been using two profile baja's in a bandpass rofl). i found out through a friend that lowes did indeed have the mdf, so i made a trip down there, built the box, had one sub go out on me, finaly got the box in and with 1 sub taking 800wrms it easily out performs the two subs taking 1600wrms. oh yea, the box i built has twice the volume of the prefab, so it's sorta like building two of the boxes that i bought for $130 for $35....

def build your own

Mike~
CEA ratings state their voltage...14.4v and i think measure at 12.5v too.. and at no time do they measure 17v+ honestly that would denote the entire reasoning behind being certified.

SoundwaveDave not true if you think about it sony isnt really that bad of a company. they know there electronics but they know that if they put stuff in walmart that people will buy it if they dont know to much about car audio... sonys equipment has shown improvement over the years by far... i still wouldnt buy there equipment cause theres better stuff out there for the money but some people just dont know where to look... anyways not thread jacking i believe that it will do its rated power if its cea rated..... but you have to put in the factor that its prob with everything maxed out (gain, etc) and im sure the thd isnt all great so it will prob do 900 watts but just not sound great at all doing it... and everyone knows that a cleaner amp will make your system sound up to 2x better.... for example im sure a jl 500.1 prob sound much better than that sony amp just cause its alot cleaner.....

i would be a little leary with the feedback that seller has. seems many didnt recieve the product they ordered.

1400wGTP dont CEA ratings ususually only test for a 2ohm load..(then again i do have a 2ohm mono alpine amp so... im not 100%) but CEA ratings tend to be legit and are something id actually trust.

BUT...

If an amp is CEA-2006 certified, wouldn't that mean that the wattage stated is REAL wattage? Therefore meaning that the Sony amp actually puts out 900 watts of power?

Thanks for any clarification.
that's what i always wondered too. if they didnt put out what they state, isn't that false advertising?

I think that's for its 550 watt rating.

galacticmonkey For the love of god dont buy a sony amp.

http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-ZX750-1-7...QQcmdZViewItem

Check that out. That amp will put about 800rms or so to your sub most likely. Will be a great matchup and is still cheaper than the sony. Not to mention the quality is a thousand times higher. Its like compaing a Geo Metro to a BMW.

momentarylapse7 You'll never see 900 out of that amp, I'd get something that does a solid 1k.
03-11-2007 09:59 AM
TheDukey42 It's the kicker prefab box right?

It will be fine for now, but when you get used to the bass look into building a box or having one built, because you'll notice a big difference.
03-11-2007 09:57 AM
sexynipps

its a dec size box and its ported
03-11-2007 09:52 AM
TheDukey42 I think that will be fine & agree, that amp isn't going to give you 900 rms. You should be fine, what type of box do you have/ have planned?

Tippy I would say no..

Just because that amp will prob. only put out around 700watts RMS.
