XeenoX Its not that we dont want to drill for oil we have plenty of oil we just cant get to it... think about it the oil drills, pumps etc can only reach so far into the oil reservoir after that certain point it becomes unpractical and far too expensive to drill any deeper. Modern Marvels ftw

No?...Oh well.
Kinda of curious as to what makes up 95% of our atmosphere?

Anyway I assume that you mean hydrogen, and hydrogen has some large problems when we try to replace gasoline with it. Hydrogen gives off heat when it expands instead of cooling like most gases. Hydrogen has three times the energy content of gasoline per weight, however it is the lightest element and has to be highly compressed in order to be used as a fuel in vehicles. It has to be compressed even further to hold a sufficient amount at filling stations, In excess of 10,000psi. At pressures far lower than this a small leak would cause the hydrogen to give off heat when it expands into the atmosphere and self ignite.

The hydrogen wouldn't likely explode with a leak, but a 2000gal, 10,000psi underground tank with a leak would make one hell of an exciting flame thrower.

As for in a car in a collision the pressure being released from the tank would be more dangerous than the actual combustion of the hydrogen.

There are a few more good reasons why hydrogen isn't the best option, but I'm done ranting, besides electric is more fun than hydrogen anyway. Instant torque FTW!

27 - 30 typically. I've done as much as 32 driving like an old person.

Still... my prior car, 2002 Civic LX was doing 36-40 with 87 octane and as high as 44 MPG on straight highway trips. Sure did decide to switch at a bad time *laughs*

sundownz I'll probably be ditching my new VW GTI shortly - it was fun while it lasted.

Gas is up 25% since I bought it in January.
