Re: Interesting issue with speakers in series

I am well aware of the load this configuration presents to the amplifier. With the gain turned all the way down, it produces a good balance of tweeter-to-midrange sound.
that, and you cant take 3 4ohm speakers and wire them to present a 4 ohm load to the amplifier. so, to present each speaker with the same amount of power, this was the only solution, and has worked well for years.
But, it makes no sense for the last speaker in the bank to be getting twice the power all of a sudden. The other speakers arent shorted. I was curious if somehow the voice coil's impedances somehow increased, thereby quieting the two amd making the third much louder? I know the amplifier couldnt cause this issue, it almost has to be the speakers.
Before I just started replacing things, I wanted to see if anyone else had encountered such a problem.

First explain why your running three 4 ohm speakers in series, that would yield a 12 ohm load.

Interesting issue with speakers in series

Ok, so I have 2 identical banks of speakers in my truck, one on the right, one on the left. The bank on the right side is fine and functioning as it always has.

The left bank I am having issues. The last tweeter in the series (before the ground returns to the amp) is twice as loud as the other two tweeters.

They are all 4 ohm.

This has recently became an issue, because I kept blowing that tweeter. Trying to figure out why, I discovered it is substantially louder than the other two tweeters in the series.

All the speakers on the right side sound about the same, and until recently, the same was true for the left side.

No idea where to start looking for an issue....
