aight that's my plan then thanks yall.

Re: Advice for electrical for running 4 OA 15s?

So I'm getting from this thread that I should get the 320a alt, a good battery for under the hood, and the 3500 from soundqubed. Turn the 3500 up only as much as I can without voltage drop, and if I want more then just get a second battery.

I don't blame you for not wanting to spend that much. I was just trying to explain the cost. So some people its worth it. To others its not.

I got you... To Kon, there's no way I'm spending 400$ for a 100ah... That's crazy...

Re: Advice for electrical for running 4 OA 15s?

Its like jl. Your paying for the r&d that they put into it to make the best battery. Your paying for the pure 100% virgin lead in it which isn't cheap. Think of the kentic as the kicker and xs power as the sundown or focal of batteries. Yes the kentic will get the job done but its no xs power.

Re: Advice for electrical for running 4 OA 15s?

But how is it that the Xs power d6500 only has 75 AH but is 320$?

Re: Advice for electrical for running 4 OA 15s?

I ended up going with the xs power xp950. Just to have the peace of mind that I have the best quality batt you can buy. Why skimp on the electrical when its the most important part of your system.

Im in a tough spot also on b atts. Im between a kentic khc600 x2 or a single xs power xp950. The kentic khc600s would be 5 more ah but the lower esr over the xs power xp950 makes me think k I'd be better off with a little less power and a better batt all around.
the xs powers are sooooooo pricey tho...

but yeah I guess I was right about how batteries and alts work. I knew if I had a big enough alt that the battery wouldn't really matter...

Re: Advice for electrical for running 4 OA 15s?

You only need extra batteries when you can't feed enough amperage to the amplifiers. The AQ/SQ 2200 will draw around 220-250amp when you're pushing it hard (Like burps). Daily driving won't pull that much, maybe 150. So with a 320amp alt running 1700rpm you'll have plenty of juice. At idle you might get some voltage drop.

Regardless of how many extra batteries you get, you will always have voltage drop from idle voltage to float voltage, 14.4-12.8v, because your alternator is doing all the work in that range. The only way to avoid it is ample alternator amperage (though it will still drop slightly before the alt responds to the increased draw), or ultracapacitors.

Re: Advice for electrical for running 4 OA 15s?

I had Kinetik's before I switch to the XS Power batts I run now, I never had a problem with the Kinetik's. I thought they were good batteries.

I'd skip on the Kinetics. XS power and Shuriken are a better choice imo. As always, you pay for what you get and batteries are no exception. I'd rather have a Deka Intimidator than the Kinetics if budget is a concern. Your truck takes a G65 battery if I'm right so maybe with a small amount of modifying you can fit a G31
I was looking at a Duracell group size 31 battery on SAMs club site but it says its not sold in my area. That's why I was gonna get the kinetic

To the other guy, I was gonna get a kinetic 2000. 102AH 2250 CCA

Personally, I would get the Soudqubed 3500 for 4 OA 15's. The OA's will love 800 per, and a little bit of headroom is always a good idea.

Re: Advice for electrical for running 4 OA 15s?

How large of a battery can you fit under the hood? Realistically, even with the alt, you'll probably need a second battery. You won't strain the alt to do it first, but you'll definitely need a second battery down the road if you go larger than 2kw.
