Fallen	Re: DPX1001.1 Clarion Amp - shutting off all the time Patrick you might want to change the color of your font, I can't read it on this skin. It might show up on ROE light, but on the old skin it's black on black. Also you might try making your own thread since this one is quite old.

PATRICK HARRINGTON	Re: DPX1001.1 Clarion Amp - shutting off all the time I have a similar problem, I thought it might be the driver ( Dual voice coil RE MT 15" ) I was running so I tried out some Sony explode 12" that was kicking around in the garage, The 12 was supposed to be rated for 1200 watts, the amp kept up the driver Lasted about 10 minutes! COOKED! I hooked up the RE again and played with the gain, input sensitivity it seemed alright but again goes into protection if I push it. When I first hooked this amp up this combo slammed hard, I have never had this much of an issue before I ran a 800 watt 4 channel amp prior to this Clarion, I bridged 4 channels to 2 channels and ran each voice coil individually off each side (bridged pair) of the amp in mono. It worked amazingly for a cheap amp for about a year before I cooked it! I am wondering if the amp just doesn't have enough for this driver, maybe I need to step down to a pair of 13w7s or something? Anyone know this amp, or dealt with these issues?????

justinromine	another possibility might be your metal leads coming from your mosfets might be broken and have to be soldered back together, this has happened with my SPL amp. It would power on, but no sound, then I would hit the amp and it would start to play then I would turn the volume up and it woud go back off. I opened it up and saw what was wrong and it was easily fixed. this might not be whats wrong with your amp....but you never know until you look

1980supreme	that's interesting, i've got a clarion DPX 1000.1 (the older style) never gets hot or goes into protect. CHECK YOUR GAINS my amp is a bit different, but it's really picky with the gain settings. i can beat on it all day if it's set properly.

ampjunkielikeme	your amp is going in to protect mode for some reason or another...it could be the speaker wires are touching somewhere...or you have the ohms wrong and the amp keeps shutting down....check all your wires power/ground/speakers....if there is no problem in the wireing, your amp may be blown or on its way to a meltdown......... .....i have seen a amp work with the main power fuse blown , it was getting power from the remote wire and it would work for a second then shut down, and come back on?. we thought it was a blown amp ....but after a close inspection it was the fuse that didnt look blown but was.....
