hehe...thats ok...it is a confusing subject...in fact your term of dual core is not necessarily wrong....but does not determine what exact CPU you have.

Dual core is simply a generic term referring to any processor package with two physical CPUs in one. The Pentium D, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo and Athlon X2 are all current CPUs that have dual cores in one package.

The Pentium D is simply two Pentium 4 Prescott cpus inefficiently paired together and ran as dual core.

The Core Duo is Intel's first generation dual core processor based upon the Pentium M (a Pentium III-4 hybrid) made mostly for laptops (though a few motherboard manufacturers have released desktop boards supporting the Core Duo CPU), and is much more efficiently than Pentium D.

The Core 2 Duo is Intel's second generation (hence, Core 2) processor made for desktops and laptops designed from the ground up to be fast while not consuming nearly as much power as previous CPUs.

Note - Intel has dropped the Pentium name in favor of the Core architecture as Intel is restructuring and refocusing it's efforts to become number one again (and are doing a fine job, might I add).

The AMD Athlon X2 CPUs have two revisions, the first one is essentially very similiar to the Pentium Ds in that they are simply two Athlon 64 chips fused together, making power requirements quite steep (around 89 watts). The second revision is made more efficiently, like the Core Duos, with much less power consumption (around 65 watts).

There are, of course, other differences, but that is the gist of dual cores as it relates to Intel and AMD.

i did just post what it was priced at when i had it priced at a pc store that builds custom pcs they said 7-800 for the tower and i said the screen was 1-200 thats why max i said 1000 .................... and i said to make offers ......... not that i wanted a ****load of money for it =D

Dual Core maybe. which is about a 100 dollar proc.

I dont think that PC will ever sell that much.

At best it may be worth $400 or so?? That is without the LCD n such extras.

I paid $590 with the following:
AMD Athlon x2 4200+ cpu
2gb DDR2 Crucial Ballistix Ram
600 Watt Cool master PSU
Biostar T-Force Sli board.
200gb Western Digital Drive
20x LiteON dvd burner
x2 Geforce 6600GT video cards
Cool Master case
Microsoft laser mouse and keyboard, both USB

Everything was new, except for the video cards which i got both for $50 from a friend. So comparing to what is being sold, I dont think anyone will ever pay out $1000+ for it.

ummmm i just put what the pricing was i dont want that much for it throw somethin out there..............i took it to a pc place and they priced the tower itself as just 800$ the screen right now prolly about 100-200 so in cash most id expect for it was 1000 not 1600whatever lol

if ur interested just post a trade offer or an offer on the price

188 for the board? ur out of ur mind. i bought my friend that board, and paid about 110 shipped, bnib. ur price is way too high man, dont expect any intelligent person to pay more than about 600 for that system, if that.

Dual core P4's arent the same as core 2 duos btw....in case people were wondering. P4 2.4 dual cores are DIRT cheap...and thats just a single processor. not two cpus. Just that the system will detect it as 2 proc's even tho it's physically 1.

XP Home retail editon I am guessing...usually sells for $200 from the B&M stores...
OEM versions 100 bux...
Can get a New 250gig easily for 70.
Can get 8800 GT 512's for 279. Buy one of those is better than THREE 7600's...(if thats even dooable....)

And 188 for your board? which board is it? I can jump on newegg and get you a price on it new....
