Whats ac stand for?
I might need to try it out.(though I love MDF, hauling a 60 lb empty sub box up 4 flights of stairs was not fun.)

i have been using ac ply on my boxes. im happy with it, cuts smoother than mdf. doesnt split when u put a screw in the side of it like mdf does, lighter than mdf and it seems to be stronger.

or 19mm. 18mm is it's own size, it's a metric width. So a lot of wood that comes from europe is metric. Hence 18mm BB.

birch would be my best bet, stiff, and depending on crossover frequency, shouldnt have probablems with resonating

ive fell in love with it guess u glass the inside and there deadlt if u have read some of my other posts im doing a 147.9 with my gf's car with 2 re se 10's and a crossfire 200d and a blondewood plywood box tuned to 55 hz(havent built the one you designed yet fallen) were have not beat but matched the meca state record with a little bit of work id like to squeeze a 50 out of it

we actually have blondewood here instead of birch... its what i've been using for the last 6 months and i'm pretty happy with it.

I've never even heard of blondewood, but as long as it's a void free plywood it should be fine.

what about blondewood plywood? im doing 148db's with a plywood box with resin inside would i do better with mdf? or is theese good numbers due to the plywood? im only running 2 tens and 2000w state record according to meca

Dang i only wish i could get a 4 x 8 sheet of MDF for that. I went to home depot today to look at a sheet for my box im building, $31 for a 3/4" 4 x 8 sheet. And being that this is my first box ive ever built im not sure if i wanna do that. So i was wondering if u ever found out if you could use a high quality particle board because thats only $20 for a 4 x 8 sheet

lets see a 1/4" walled fiberglass box handle 7k a sub. I know my birch box is gonna deff handle it, you know how much glass it would take to be the same as 1.5"walls and 2.25" baffle?
and a bunch of curves and valleys just create back swirls and dead spots making it harder for air to travel

Only 133 db with 2 10's? thats crap IMO Ive broken 130 with a single 10 on under 200 watts.. in a trunk car XD. Like fallen said the air in the box just compresses/decompresses, learn a thing or 2 about boxes before making false claims. Most fiberglass boxes look pretty and sound like ass, atleast that alot of them Ive seen :P

Just change my 12" sub MDF-3/4" 1.3cf sealed box to a DIY 15" sub using marine plywood-1" thick sealed 2.5cf box(My first Marine Plywwod Box). Result is a different kind of bass you're getting...and its for my taste though. Altough the 12" MDF will sound deep but its a bit harsh at the lower end and hits hard at your face during high volume. The 15" sounds even deeper and blended totally with the mids and act like it wasn't there. I don't know if its the box or the sub that open,widen and deepen up the sound stage. I just have the urge to crank up the volume and not feeling too much base where as the 12" will make you tired after sometime and you will lower the volume.
Both box are using same amp and same Xover setting and it tune for SQ.I've not try the setting for techno yet but will do that in future. Anyway, marine plywood will always have my vote in future.
