vc4life ya we know that im wanting someone to explain why 300w on a home reciever is a lot more powerfull then a 300w car amp
03-31-2006 10:05 PM
infogiver the difference is the amount of air space that needs to be pressurized...

a car is much smaller than a room and requires less power to hit a higher number because it has less air space to pressurize

a room is larger than a car and therefore has more airspace to pressurize

so in short 150db in a car and 150db in the house are two waayyy different things

vc4life someone else will know what im talking about but the way i thought it worked was home recievers have true power verses car amps that are over rated

whens the last time you saw a 3000w home reciever for surround sound

i had a home reciever with 440w total with 4 channels so 110w per channel and the amp inside that reciever was big and heavy as hell, no compaired to a 4 channel car amp that is 110w per channel its small and light,

someone who knows what im tryin to say please help me out here

COLOSSUS :nods: But what he meant was that a vehicle is known to boost the overall intensity and houses kinda drown it out due to the extremely large spaceous AIRY areas. lol

Or at least I think thats what he meant..

EH... Upon readin his quote there, i've noticed he may have instead meant that because of the increased voltage running into the system that it's more power.. not really.. they filter out all the extra and then run the rest through the speaker if i'm not mistaken.

That I will go about saying, would blow the walls of your house out.. right? I mean.. that'd move enough air to flex windows past their breaking point and house windows aren't made for much flex anyways. I'm guessing 90,000 watts would hit higher than a 200.7 as well..

Does the software only give estimates or does it round it all down, cuz those numbers look kindergartenish to me lol
