bangnsystems 2002 Pontiac GP
Head light model: Low/High beam 9007

You use 1 bulb for both you driving light and High beams. You have 2 options.
1: [$185shipped] 9007 driving light kit. You will not have High beam. I personally use this one my civic. Although I'm in california and have no use for high beam. Light is already bright.

2: [$205shipped] 9007/hb5 Bi xenon Kit. With this kit you will have HID driving lights and HID high beams. Good if you want to blind the crap out of people or get their attention.

those prices are for the complete kit. You get both left and right side. 2 bulbs, 2 ballast, 2 mounts, and all acc you'll need. Average cars take 20-30mins to install.

mtx9515 is the 185 for my car?
03-27-2008 05:57 PM
bangnsystems I've dealt with a lot of different HID kits. Guessing I've sold over 100 kits so far. The best thing you can do is make the right choice. By that I mean picking a HID kit that is reliable. Most, if not all HID kits are damn bright. Especially when compared to stock halogens. The only thing that sets them apart is quality. I've always offered a 1 year warranty on all the kits I have sold. I'd say the return on them are 1 in 50. Needless to say that most of the time something is damaged due to some form of install error.

I'll post a few pictures of my own car for you to see. And yes, they are colorful but hey i have plenty and i like to at least try each color once.

I sell the basic kits for $185shipped incase you guys want to use that as reference. oh and by the way. I orderd one of those cheap HID kits off ebay for about $100. It was just for sh*ts and giggles. Sure enough after 1hr of driving in my civic, the driver side light started to flicker like a strobe light. Double checked everything to make sure the connection was correct and tested again the next day. Still Failure. just FYI.

ps. this post was not to sell, but is to inform. thats what these forums are for. To educate

also - if you get HIDs and do not have projector lenses - the beam pattern will be incorrect on the road. the light will go every direction except for where you need it to be.

HIDs were made to work in projector housings - not reflector housings.

all you will do it blind everyone who drives at you and you will be hated. not to mention the tickets youll get.
I bought one of the "higher end" ebay kits a little over a year ago. It was the one with a shudder to act as a high beam. I notice because of this it aims most of the light out of other drivers eyes no one ever flashes their lights at me. Also i got the 8000k bulbs and they are def. brighter than the stock and the silverstars i had in their prior.

BUT as soon as i have the time i will retrofit some projector's into my headlamp housing to fully utilize my lights.

AND it is illegal to have HID's in a reflector housing.
ALSO it is just as illegal to retrofit projectors into a headlight housing (not DOT approved) but if you do this (properly) your chances of getting pulled over/ticketed after the cop inspects it is slim to non.

the only right way to do HIDs is to retrofit projector lenses into your headlight housings and buy ballasts and some bulbs. it gets pretty expensive, but WELL worth it in the end.

oh and also - dont get any other color besides 5-6k (pure white). anything above 6k dramatically reduces your visibility on the road.

wrong. I bought these plug and play kits off ebay and they kick ass. Super easy to install, like it says, PLUG and PLAY, you just need to know your bulb size and the color you want. I got 8000k low beams with 6000k fogs, and it looks awesome.

8000k left, stock halogen on the right. I got a much farther distance of sight now, as well as a wider heads up view.

notice the ground =)

I have bought 2 kits from a guy on ebay and its great. Its probably made in china, yes, but it will perform just like any other out there give or a take SMALL differences. (pm me for seller)

I'm going to correct him on another thing. You say anything of 6k Dramatically reduces visibility? Um no. You are upgrading to HIDS, so they are automatically gonna be brighter, and unless you get deep blue (10000k) or purplish (12k+) you won't reallly be losing much light. stay 8k and under and you'll be MORE than fine.

It's really easy, bro. Oh yeah, have to mount the ballasts somewhere, too.

These kits fit into your stock headlight. All you need to know is your what type of stock lights you have. And they only draw 35 watts while stock lights draw at least 60 watts and go up o like 75 watts. So you can use that extra power for a bigger amp lol.
sweet thanks

03-27-2008 03:14 PM
xseveredveganx I have an 8000K kit from www.mobilehid.com. I haven't had a lick of trouble with it. But, my 2008 xB has projector housings.

I recommend upgrading the actual housing and retrofitting them with projector housings from a car with projectors and factory HID. There's an HID forum.

Dont buy any halogen light bulbs. I made a huge mistake and bought one pair of 6000K halogens and one pair of 8000K. They looked cool but the extra current they drew ruined my whole harness . Luckily I found out before it got to my onboard computer. So if you want to get that nice tinted light you might as well get a nice HID kit.
