well guys I decided to pay a little more $$ and go all kicker. I just ordered the kicker CK4 amp wiring kit and are planning on ordering the sub/box/amp tomarrow. thanks for the help!!

creyc I too have to recommend the Kicker ZX750.1, great amp that does more than rated.

I installed this exact equipment in a buddies car and it sounds very nice, whomever said Kicker sounds bad probably wouldn't know true sound quality if it bit him on the ear!

After installing, my friend dropped by a local shop who sold him the parts but wanted to do the install too, and from what I heard he basically offered me a job after hearing it and then getting his own CD's to listen to it. I wasn't there, he just said whoever built the box did a really nice job.

And yes I think the sheet had the measured output at 930~ watts RMS. Great amp, especially in OEM situations because of the auto-sensing feature, there's no need for a remote wire.

lil_italy773 i just sold my hifonics XXV thor and at 13.3v its did 3347wrms after getting the volts, amps test and mutipling the numbers on music not even a test tone.

shotokan_teen get whichever is cheaper. really, that kicker will put out a lil more than rated power but for the money you can't beat the hifonics as it will prolly be cheaper.
04-14-2008 08:19 PM
jdcountryboy91 alright i guess ive narrowed it down to the kicker zx750.1 or the Hifonics Brutus BXi 1208D. So out of those which one would be THE BEST??
04-13-2008 10:19 PM
wizardofthehood You guys should stop giving hifonics a bad name....it does rated @14.4volts....a lil bit of false marketing but still..
04-13-2008 05:52 PM
Spinnaz that hifonics 1200 will only put out about 900 @ 1 ohm. Dont expect rated power but it will still pound pretty nice. Im runnin a 1200 in my setup n it gets damn loud for 900 watts.
04-13-2008 05:50 PM
korey_hofer the titan series is garbage from what I have heard
04-13-2008 05:46 PM
98NeonRT I don't know for sure about the Titan series of hifonics amps, but if it's anything like the brutus series, they're not overrated, they're just rated at 14.4 vots, so it would obviously have a lower power rating at the 12.4 volts your car will feed it.
04-13-2008 01:38 PM
bigsean What r your guys thoughts on the brutus 1200, jd have you looked at the brutus amps I think the 1200 puts out 900 at 2ohm, that would push the L5 good and you would still have enough power if you what to upgrade your sub(s) later.
04-13-2008 01:28 PM
jdcountryboy91 the kicker zx750.1 comes with a certificate saying that it puts out 900 sumthin RMS. my old "400 watt" zx400.1 came with one that said it puts out 586.
04-13-2008 01:14 PM
korey_hofer the lower hifonics line are complete junk that kicker will probally put out close to 800 watts at 14.5volts that hifonics will probally do around 600
04-13-2008 01:08 PM
jdcountryboy91 i was thinking more along the lines of kicker because I have had an amp by them before. I am always a little leary when switching brands.
04-13-2008 01:03 PM
korey_hofer if you make the righ tbox it will sound fine don't listen to caps he likes to pretend he knows every thing
04-13-2008 12:50 PM
jdcountryboy91 so the L5 has no sq?? I had a 15"CVR in my old vehicle powered by a zx400.1 in a sealed box and I thought it sounded pretty good. I know its an entirely diff. subwoofer, but an L5 is not THAT bad is it.
04-13-2008 12:41 PM
caps omg... say goodbuy to any sq...
04-13-2008 12:40 PM
korey_hofer the kicker amp will put out more power than the hifonics the hifonics puts out less than rated and kicker puts out more and also the kicker is a much better built amp and also never use a cap use an extra battery also 1/0 gauge wire

15" Kicker L5 and Hifonics Amp?

I am looking into getting a 15" Kicker L5 and was browsing around for a good amp and wanted some opinions on my choice. I know the kicker zx750.1 would work but while browsing around I stumbled upon a good match on the Hifonics website. the Hifonics TXi 1008D. I figured I would get the 2ohm version of the L5 and wire it in parrallel for a 1 ohm final load. The Amp is 1 ohm stable, more powerful and a little cheaper than the kicker zx750.1 So my question is whether this is a good idea or not. And would I need a cap for this setup?

specs on sub:
Subwoofer Size : 15"
Design : Dual Voice Coil
Power Handling (RMS) : 750 Watts
Power Handling (MAX) : 1500 Watts
Sensitivity : 87.8dB
Frequency Response : 18Hz~100Hz
Impedance : 2-Ohms
Mounting Depth : 8-5/8"
Approximate Weight : 29.4 LB

specs on hifonics TXi 1008D: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9551_Hifonics+TXi+1008D.html
thanks.
