absolutely. with my own equipment I have seen an average of .5 gain with temps below freezing. lol, the fusion van, had a portable air conditioner piping cold air through duct work keeping interior at a cozy 50 degrees or so before making the run.

notmuchbass oh some guy in a 1/2 bagged cougar said his sh*t was the loudest in town and he was running in the 1800+ rms class at a show here in town. He hit like 145 on the meter. My buddy pulls up to the meter in a lifted Cherokee w/3 CVX 12s and a 1500.1 kicker and hits 149.2. I was laughing at the guy(mainly because he only had the front of his car bagged)what a douche

VikingLax18 in the port is probably what hit 190. no ones anywhere near that now.
04-22-2008 03:56 PM
possom while were talking about high numbers and ports^^^^, i wonder what scott and alan hit in the port or in some other sweet spot in there vehicles.
04-22-2008 03:56 PM
tymoto21 guy at my local audio shop said he saw one jl 10 w 3 doing 162dbz at show. in a small sealed box. i was just like wow.

Gebrochen *In theory only since I've never heard of this being done*
I'd guess that both temperature and atmosphere pressure would only be relevant for air density. ... and that SPL meters would measure the difference between peaks and lows and therefore not be much affected by ambient air pressure. What would be strongly affected would be tuning since the weight of the air at various densities would affect port calculations. ... and of course a change in tuning would either increase or decrease SPL depending on how well it matched the tone being played.

... allowing for possibilities like a cab full of either CO2 or Helium could result in making smaller boxes yield good results. No idea which way you'd need to go to do that.

*open for any input on that*

Krannyman92 haha 180db. but that pressurizing above ~13 psi, that would hypothetically give maybe like a 3-5db gain?
04-22-2008 02:03 PM
ndstrctbl my friend thought that the sensitivity rating equaled the Decibel output...so his 2 subs could hit 180. lol

txcyko i have heard shat stories like these way to many times..

04-15-2008 03:11 AM
sully72482 lol, i think it's been done. At least, there's a specific rule that forbids it, which usually means that someone tried it!

Hmm...

hmmm what if the cab was filled with helium or perhaps xenon?

or if the temperature was raised or lowered?

i think we might have a new scientifc branch of bass racin'
