what kind of power are you planning to run...
if your going to run 6 12"s off more power than the 4 12"s ported, than go with 6 12"s sealed, if not, go with 4 12"s ported

Isobaric should only be used if space is an issue, since you loose 3dB output over a single sub...
ButYou have twice the power handling and half the VAS, so if power isn't a problem(its cheap these days) it lets you get the same output with less space(but more power).
IMO its a poor compromise most of the time, I'd rather save space with a passive radiator...ports can eat up alot of a box when tuned low, passives use .1 cuft tops.

huh? not really a sealed box with one sub wil useally have the same output as 2 in an isbaric box. great if you don't have a lot of space and have to have 2 subs but not really worth it.

It doesn't "suck" for spl, it just costs more for amps and drivers. Great if you're strapped on space though.

its called push/pull or isobaric great for sq but sucks for spl.

Agreed, go ported.

build the box for 6 12's...
the more woofers you run in a chamber the less volume per sub they need.

this is a good reply, dont listen to any one else but this guy, ur best bet is to try both boxes (ur sealed you have and the new ported ur goin to make) and experiment, but imho, the ported will get lower no doubt, but not so much louder, but thats just me, good luck tho bro

gotslap?
ported....you would be EXTREMELY surprised at how small of a box you can run for some subs

ok, then the question is.....would 4 ported in a proper enclosure be louder than 6 sealed in a proper enclosure?

um wow well i don't really know what to say you seem to have your mind made up allready. if it was me i'd go 4 ported, or have someone design a BP/horn/tline something different to get the most out of your subs.

ok, i have 6 12,s the biggest box i can have is 32x32x14"
sealed they require 1.25ft^3
ported they require 1.75ft^3
i would like to use all 6, and for some reason it makes since that 6 12"s in an enclosure thats too small would be louder than 4 12's in an enclosure thats just right.....im sure thats wrong.....but it makes since to me

lol ok this will help us better....
box rec specs..

and sub

which would be louder?
which of these would be louder?
a sealed box that is correct volume
or a ported box that is 20% too small for the sub
