Kmarks24 finally heard a few different sets of the CDTs yesterday. of few guys i met this past weekend have high end set ups and were running em. I know one of the sets was the E-630 Gold set i believe. He spent around $700 for them and for the money i was left with much to desire. I easily would've gone with Focal or Seas for that price

TPA80 Im very happy with my Soundstream RF60 and plan to go all SS, mayb im just the lucky one Haven't heard the top expensive sets yet,

Kmarks24 my take on soundstream is like -12+VoLt=ShOcKeR's . never had good luck with nething soundstream except the subwoofers and the higher end amps. Their Pro Series speakers work well for what they are made for...playing loud, but sound quality wasn't quite there the few times i heard em.

Another big bust for me was the McIntosh comps. Big money...decent loudness, and a tad above average sound quality. Nothing like the amplifiers which i still say are a cut above the rest

sri3850341 i truly enjoy my cdt gold's

Other brands that are equally (or in some cases even better drivers) are Vifa, Tang Band, and Aurum Cantus. (SS uses Vifa drivers in the components)

I have had nothing but bad luck with all my Soundstream ventures, It all LOOKS good on paper and everyone talks big about it but man the final in your hand product is a Let down........Ohh DONT even get me started on there craptacular decks.......FAIL FAIL FAIL! I love dealing with pissed off customers who have broken equipment...

The Mtx thunder Axe's are Super nice, Get REAL loud and just plan sound good!
They Loaned us the HHR Demo car for a week and they were setup nice and we were all very impressed with there clarity and volume....

Another Good contender is Memphis MSQ's witch are Changing as of right now *OUT OF STOCK FROM MEMPHIS* but damn I loved those things for bang for the buck....

Eclipse 6500 arent bad for just under 200

Focal / Morel / yea bring your wallet, Worth it if you can swing it like that cause they are priced like that for a reason top quality its gonna be good!

Kmarks24 MTX Really? wow i honestly would have never thought of those. I've only heard the lower end comps and i wasn't the least bit impressed but ill take your word for it on those ones. I'm gonna have to look around and see if anyone around here has em
07-03-2008 02:55 PM
splitfirexxx MTX TXC's...

They Get loud and Sound great!

I ove them!

Damn I missed that, AQ componets? Got any more info?
07-03-2008 02:09 PM
beerdrnkr The Hybrid Clarus component set has also gotten really good reviews.
07-03-2008 02:07 PM
goochtaint the entire profi line from rainbow including the vanadium are some of the best i have ever heard. other than that those seas lotus tweeters are some of my favorites.. The best comp set i've heard to date would be the rainbow power CS 275.27 set. I think one of the mods on here has that set, maybe he'll let ya know

Kmarks24 The older MB Quarts i loved, my uncle had a few sets a while back, agreed on the JL's. I honestly don't hear the brilliant sound that u'd expect to go along with the price tag on their speakers. I heard the rainbows in a kids car locally but it was powered by the head unit not an amp so i can't put an honest opinion on those. Hybrid Audio i had forgotten about, still havn't heard any in person but i've heard real good things about their product.
07-03-2008 01:52 PM
beerdrnkr Here's a few that I have liked and I've heard a few high end sets. Morel (not sure which model, my Rainbow Germaniums and Hybrid Audio sets sound awesome (haven't heard the L4's w/ the L1's yet cuz my amp blew), Rainbow SLC's were pretty nice, Focal K2P's were alright, Boston Z6's are pretty nice, the high end Polks sounded really good, I don't like the high end JL's, the older MB Quart premiums sounded really good if you can turn down the tweets a little.

PaulThompson229 Rainbows are nice too if it hasnt already been said

Kmarks24 not looking to buy anything right now. those who saw my post yesterday about what my friend sent me from Italy know why.

I just hooked up a pair of the Seas Lotus 6.5"s in my stang and they sound insanely clear. I've heard alot of the Focal brand speakers, the Hi Energys i've heard over and over and they are nice.

I think my favorite though along with the Seas would still have to be Hertz. I just got an amp from Hertz and i'm expecting my components from them in the next week.

Not too crazy about CDT. Its good stuff don't get me wrong, just not my "cup of tea" i guess you could say lol

any other brands out there for SQ?

MarantzMan I usually just copy paste what i want to quote, use the advanced posting instead of quick post then paste it here, highlight it and hit the quote button

Scarrell i can vouch on a cheap shallow mount set my buddy had from SS.. didnt sound bad.

PaulThompson229 Kinda off topic but how do you quote only part of a post like marantzman did?

Toshi Focal Be No.7
realy nice speakers, heard them in sinsheim some months ago
a friend has the Brax Matrix system, has the Helix RS6.3 system b4, both are realy top notch speakers

im having the Polk Audio SR6500, awesome sound quality, not as punchy in the kick like focals, but awesome highs
but well, its not exactly a system if you want it REAL loud, but same goes for pretty much every high sound quality system
