you have enough room for subs up, port up in a single cab?

creyc The way it seems to work on mine, the closer the port gets to the hatch the more it sounds like a leaky sealed box. i.e. diminished output, and lots less punch..

But after a certain distance (about 6" in my truck) it doesn't really change anymore, so that's where experimenting will come in, to find that happy medium.

1988_chevy_swb yeah.. well it seems like when i pull it away it gets punchier..?

fosg8freak we dont know enough about acoustics to be able to tell you whether being so far away or so close will help or not. Theres a chance that it will load better off the wall being closer, theres a chance that it wont. Theres just tooooo much there to be able to tell you, you just have to experiment.

1988_chevy_swb well mine is 2.25 tall and 11.5 wide so it only needs to be 3" away then?
01-25-2009 11:23 AM
blackout but some people have it closer and still get good results
01-25-2009 11:22 AM
blackout at least the width of the port away
01-25-2009 11:19 AM
1988_chevy_swb in my truck, my port faces the back wall. its about 3-4" away. so i would like to know this theory too
01-25-2009 11:16 AM
rmzsuzuki89 I heard it was supposed to be like half the length of the port from the hatch.
01-25-2009 11:13 AM
Mxman38 ehh, i dont think itll matter, but they say not to destruct the ports by like a foot or something?
01-25-2009 11:12 AM
creyc Experiment if you can.

I know mine makes a huge difference if it's less than about 6 inches away. But more than 6" doesn't really do anything (by ear)

Box too close?

Does it matter how close my ports are to the hatch? It is about 5 inches away.
