an alternator cant be a 100amp alt under no load, then 40amps under load. if its 100amps, it outputs 100amps (or close to)

the guy at the auto shop said all the diodes are fine, and that 40 amps UNDER load is normal. he said its prolly like an 80 - 100 amp alternator with no load on it. its a 94 buick regal. i would imagine the alternators on older cars wouldnt be as good as the ones on newer cars.

thats bull****. i have a voltage meter and i can clip the **** out of my amp with ease. and ive had my alt tested. under load it only produces like 40 amps.

yeah, where were you sir when I asked if they do rated?

whatever you do, do NOT use anything bigger than 4 gauge on your big 3 or power wire! There won't be enough internal resistence, especially if it's copper wire. No, not really, go as big as you can... bigger is better!
