Re: Would you use a "Local Car Audio Retailer/Installer Reviews" type section

Online shops are ok, but I would leave it up to the consumer to look up reviews on local shops. We have about 20 here in INDY and some suck and some do good work. At least online shops might see a bad review and be compelled to offer a repair after reading a bad review, etc. Local shops have enough on thier plate, I doubt they are going to scour the inter-webs looking for reviews good or bad. Here we also have Angies List.

By the way, in regards to slander..... I don't believe you can file lawsuits for slander anymore unless it is related to harassment, work/employee related or discriminatory. Companies slander each other on television all the time. Slander used to be considered anything that implies a lower standard of quality which manufactureres do all the time by saying they are better than another. Hell they have all sorts of websites stating they hate people, companies and products etc.

Re: Would you use a "Local Car Audio Retailer/Installer Reviews" type section

I was a installer and shop owner for a long time and seen alot of crap. A local area shop review is a excellent idea. You would not believe some of the junk that rolled in my shop that customers asked us to fix. I thought maybe the customer installed it but when they tell me they paid a shop, I couldn,t believe it. Perhaps this would help prevent customers from spending their hard earned money for poor service or possible vehicle damage as well as force shops to clean up their act.

I would because some shop can be horrible at customer service dealing with returns to installations.

Re: Would you use a "Local Car Audio Retailer/Installer Reviews" type section

I think that would be great, but you would have to take the reviews with a grain of salt. This arena would be wide open for abuse, for both flaming and pumping up shops, and competition is pretty tough these days. Would shade tree guys that advertise mobile install or box building services on craigslist be included? It would be nice to have a review section for some of those guys too, as it is more likely I would have my box built from someone like that if I could save up to a few hundred bucks just on the box.

Re: Would you use a "Local Car Audio Retailer/Installer Reviews" type section

There's 1 or 2 installers here that actually care about what you have to say and don't overcharge on installs/sales and only sell top notch brands no mainstream brands

Re: Would you use a "Local Car Audio Retailer/Installer Reviews" type section

yes and no, there are some installers over here, where they could care less about the customer, and just care about the money

Re: Would you use a "Local Car Audio Retailer/Installer Reviews" type section

I think one thing that would help out is if someone is going to post anything neglegant... have them post pics of what they claim was done wrong. i.e. bad wiring job ect.

If it's the truth and it's not over done with anything not fact(emotional opinions), it should be OK, for instance, a friend of mine had a head unit installed by circut city, the install looked great & sounded good, but a couple of months past before he tested the lert & right and found them to be reversed, it's the truth.

Although I do my own work (can't justify paying someone when I can do it), I can always use a good tip on a retailer online who may have something I want or need, sadly there are few stereo shops in my area. The ones which are left are very expensive. I supported some of the local shops at one time, but it's a matter of money now. Most auto sound enthusiast in my area, whom I know are doing their own work or having friends/independent installers (shade tree installers) do the work these days. Helps keeps amp manufactures in business!

You can't have a slander suit on on online review site. Hundreds of websites do this already.

Indeed. When the forum is made, we'll for sure include online sites in the title.

Re: Would you use a "Local Car Audio Retailer/Installer Reviews" type section

I voted yes, however i think it would cause a whole lot of problems. Some people would feel compelled to complain no matter what and those who don't know a whole lot about installation would probably give a lacking review and possibly biased reviews if the owner is someone they know.

For those who respect the idea and don't post just to bash someone's credibility I think this could be a great tool.

i said yea because if you get a box designed and you want the audio shop to install everything and you want to know where to go or not or if you do not like some 1 and want them to get F'ed you will know where to send them.
