Re: ROE Blog

an article of the year would be sweet as well.

pick articles of the week then pick 1 article out of the 4 to get 75$ a month.

then pick 1 out of the 12 to get 300$ at the end of the year.

Re: ROE Blog

Shane, yours was good. Nothing is perfect. IMO yours was the *best* written article. But since people are emotional creatures, they went with their heart.

my next article im going to write will fit the criteria then im going to tell a story how my dog got hit by a drunk driver while i was walking him on a leash.I think that should put me in the money next month again. LOL

i thought that the way ANT meant was that the winning article could not be re-submitted.What would it hurt if an article that didnt win was re-submitted?
i also thought this. have an article every week but no prizes...until the end of the month when the winner every week goes into a finals were the ultimate winner is then chosen.I guess sort of like bracket style. do you guys understand?
on the vote tip i am really not certain what a blog is so maybe i better not vote on it. clear that up for me please guys

Re: ROE Blog

That what I was thinking.
Or even give them 3 tries and then they can't try that article again. Who knows.
All I know is we need to get more people to vote
Even if you vote that it should stay the same. Right now we've captured about what .01% of active ROE users.

Re: ROE Blog

ant said basically that they cant just re-submit their article till they win, if they modify, add, make better their article, it'd probably be cool..

Re: ROE Blog

i believe ant said no multiple entries.

if we're going to weekly entries that'll have to be addressed.

Re: ROE Blog

Bump for more votes.
So far it looks like only half of the people who read the thread voted.
Come on people.
Vote.

Re: ROE Blog

Dunno, that would be up to ANT.
In the end he'll decide all the rules, this is just a thread to see if there is any interest in doing a blog.

What I meant was, it would give people who didn't win an oppurtunity to win next week. But not without improving their article first. There's always room for improvement, and having an extra week would give plenty of time to go into more depth, do more research, post pictures etc etc.

So yeah, yours was clean, but I wouldn't say perfect.
thnx jud.. maybe your right, i could make it better with a little extra time.. can i repost if modified?

Re: ROE Blog

True...
But then again those articles were 500-1500 words. That shouldn't take a month to write. I think they struggled for entries because it was new.

Plus then people who didn't win the first go round could clean up their article and try again next week.

Anyways I edited the poll, if you guys want your vote changed tell me what you want it changed to, and what you voted for before.

If no one enters, I get $25. Duh.(It would be up to ANT, maybe put it into the next weeks prize money)

I'm sure we'll be able to get some dedicated writers on here.

i just think weekly is too often and we'll strugle for entries from time to time. especially if articles can only be entered one time each.
I agree completely with this. We had a full month and we only got 3 entries lol. What happens if no one posts anything?

Maybe have it setup into multiple columns, like it is now, but where the videos are, maybe split that in half. Honestly I think I would check out the blog more than the videos.
Maybe put video updates into the blog. So that when fresh videos are available people can see them.
I rarely check the videos, but a blog on the main page would be cool

Bump means to post on a thread which "bumps" the thread back into the top 10 threads or whatever. It means basically to bring up the idea again to try and get more interest.

A blog is an online journal.

Engadget is a tech blog
Hack a Day is a hacking blog
Blog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ROE Blog

I have been suggesting in another thread that we should have a ROE blog.

It can contain:
  • Updates when new videos on ROE are available
  • The Technical Articles(Article of the Month) Could be posted here.
  • Info about the site regarding updates, news, etc could be posted
  • Product reviews could be posted.
I am recommending it goes on the forum main page where currently there are thumbnails of videos. When new videos are available they can be placed in a blog entry. That could be updated once a week.

Which brings me to the next idea. I think that instead an article of the month for $100, we should do 4 $25 articles of the week. By updating the blog more regularily, hopefully it would attract more users. I also didn't feel that the article of the month posts were really $100 articles. They were great posts, no doubt about that.

So what do you guys think?
