Well, the moral of the story here is that If you would like to stick with two subs then you should stick with a sealed enclosure. You really dont have the airspace to go ported if you want the subs to perform well across a wide frequency range. I'd assume if you bought the 15s you probably want to be able to go low. In order for those speakers to perform well in the lower frequency range you need a big ass box. Sealed boxes require less air space to get those low notes.
5 - 6 cu.ft. each ported is good for daily drivers because it keeps my customers in check (many of them don't understand restraint) I've put those 15's in 10 cu.ft. each ported, for customers who know how to control themselves, without a problem (in SUV's of course) and they will get low. but you don't have that kind of space.
So, your options to get the most out of your speakers is to either use 2 in a sealed box or use 1 in a ported box. If you port that box and still use 2 you may get a little bit louder than the sealed box but you will loose out on your low notes and 15's were made for low notes. If you like to get a little more output from your sealed box stuff some polyfill in there. I see it as more of a bandaid for boxes that are too small and would rather build the appropriate size enclosure but in your case if you can't build a bigger box, polyfill will make the speakers perform like thay are in a bigger box and will help you get louder lower performance. You'll be happier if you polyfill your sealed box than if you try to port it. My $0.02
thanks a bunch!!! i thought about usin polyfill too but wasnt sure about it. is the rule of thumb 1lb polyfill gains 1cu,ft? not sure anymore.

i didnt run any numbers or model anything on them and ive never specifically dealt with the L7's but i know the L5 15's absolutely love 6^ft3 apiece so i would have to agree with you on the 5-6 per comment

Re: new enclosure. doubkle check my math
as sic said even with port external he would be too small IMO to go ported. i have my round 15 in 3^ft3 and it is built for small boxes. the kicker L7 has quite a bit more sd than a round sub and is also not built for small boxes. if you want to go ported i would say that box is just about perfect for 1 15 after port displacement. just stick with sealed or get different subs.

Re: new enclosure. doubkle check my math
if they were 12's yes but the 15's need at least 3-3.5 each minimum....
think 18 round airspace since a 15 square is roughly the same or more...

new enclosure. doubkle check my math
ok my first idea wouldnt work due to poor trunk opening. my new box is just a normal rectangle. it measures 12"Hx36"Wx30"D. 3/4"mdf. i get a gross volume of 5.97. after subs displacement of .32. i get 5.65 and im gonna leave it sealed for right now. but eventually i will port it to 34hz. im using 2 15"L7s.
