Re: 14V Normal?

13.5 with out music if i go full tilt it i'll drop to 12.8 but than i turn down the music before it goes any lower.some guy's in the forum told me that 3 more bateries will help keep my voltage higher Well so it wont drop that bad

Re: 14V Normal?

your slight voltage drop from driving is typical in vehicles with a decent amount of mileage. Its nothing bad. As the alt gets hot, it doesn't charge quite as good. But you're ok for sure.

Re: 14V Normal?

Cool beans, Just about to meter it on the way to work, we will see how she holds. If it drops below 13V then we have a problem :P :P :P

Thank you all for the input, I appreciate it.

Re: 14V Normal?

I should also include that you should measure the voltage at the amplifier's terminals and not the battery's because it can make a difference.

Re: 14V Normal?

When your car is running your alternator is charging the battery at about 14.4v. When you turn your car off the battery will go from about 14 volts down to 12.8 volts (it rests at 12.8v). When your system hits the battery discharges and the alternator charges it back up. Your voltage gets lower the longer you play your system because your alternator cant charge the battery up fast enough. Your 70a alternator is pretty small but is clearly doing fine since your voltage is staying around 14v; which is great. Any voltage between 12-14 volts is good. Higher is better of course.

14V Normal?

Hi all, I know my questions must become annoying however, please bare with me as I have only had my license for just over a year (Provosionals) therefore i have had no real hands on experience with Auto Electrical systems.

My car voltage likes to Fluctuate a lot and i am not sure what it should ACTUALLY be... Do most basic systems sit at 14? or Lower? or higher?

When i start my car, it reads 14.20-14.30 Volts then slowly drops as i'm driving... for example i just went for a drive to the shops 20 - 30 minute trip in total. When i started my voltage reading was at 14.25 and when I just got back to work it had decreased to 14.00V

I have an AE92 Corolla with a 4A-FC engine and 70A Alternator - Big 3 Upgrade in 0 Gauge.
The system consists of:
15" Kicker CVR 07
Fusion 4 channel bridged for the CVR
Pioneer iPod Headunit
2 4" Pioneer speakers
2 6" JBL GTO speakers

So, i Guess what i am getting at is, is floating like this normal?
What is the average voltage that it should be at?
If anyone has any input, could you please add it as it is vital to me knowing if i can keep my system in my car or not..

Thank you for your time
