I don't fully agree with that comment. So you think the obsidian 18 pre order destroyed the value of the 18 and shortened the life span of that sub?

A pre order is a great way for a "smaller" company to take a big step without the huge risk normally involved. I am just saying if a company (like obsidian) didn't do a preorder on their 18s it wouldn't have happened. They would have had to wait a long time before they could have branched out to an 18.

The "typical" consumer isn't going to buy these because they are made by a little known boutique brand. The average consumer will buy alpine, kicker and JL because they recognize the name. And they will get less quality and less sub for their money. Anyone who knows SSA will look at the TS specs on these and say "Hey, these are more oriented toward the goal I'm after than the SA's" and they know they are getting quality backed by knowledgable customer service.
It is interesting what brand name does to pricing and perception.

Re: SSA Gcon photos

I dont like the word "harsh", rather "structured"...... The wording in which you provide your thoughts dictates a sense of resentment towards the manufacturers price, IE:I'm just saying there are a lot of people that will not experiment on a $400 pair of subs, but might do with $300 a pair or less.
So yes "nice subs" would have been a good reply...

when every other sub in ssa's lineup is highly touted, and the sub in question offers some upgrades from the sa12, think 3" coil vs 2.5" coil, that question certainly answers itself.

and i agree with sri, youve made quite a few useless posts in dead threads already today. sounds like trollin to me

As he said above, it'll be around the $200 mark. No way they'll go cheaper than that since their dcon is near $150.

I would as well have to agree with you that this could give the SA a run for its money as last mentioned its for the people looking to go inbetween the icon and the dcon.
the sentence was something alone the lines of "it will be for the people throwing to much power at the Dcons but dont want to buy the Icons"
That is kind of the goal, a Dcon/Hybrid. The Icon is very expensive to build, some quite pricey CNC machine work goes into the Icon motor. That mean's we cannot sell the Icon on the cheap. The Gcon spans the gap between the Dcon and Icon nicely and will reside in that very busy power class, but with a 3" coil and will be made in Las Vegas.

Pricing should land in that general area, we will state final pricing once everything is all ready to go.
