headphones are usually like car audio. you get what you pay for. If your looking for some good quality ones are usually $200+. I have Sony mdr-v700's and they sound pretty good. you can hear down to about 35hz good and they seem to be lasting. It's all about the price range but you cant really go wrong. unless you buy beats haha.

my 2 cents: depends on what your are using them for will depend on what is comfortable for you. over the ear, earbuds, on ear...

i use the sony MDREX10LP/BLK earbuds at the moment for day use sitting behind a computer. they are my sound good with inline volume, co-worker canceling & other noises, and inexpensive to replace if you catch a cord. also has a good range of sound and bass.

down side is that the wires are a bit troublesome as they will tangle easy and if not careful the wire will take a funny shape (wrapping them around something like your MP3 player).
