ylpkm	Re: LOC vs 2 volt preout rca question Thanks for the responses guys. i am switch from the T1807 to T1814.. pioneer oem head units. (the t1814 actually has a sub out rca as well as a usb mod i will perform, so i should be getting good quality of sound from my ipod.) I really dont want to get an aftermarket that i need to splice because then i would have to redo the steering wheel controls and the last time i was messing around with the internal wirings back there, it was uncomfortable and time consuming. Unless you guys know a PnP aftermarket with a high rca output for a scion tc (2007) that would be great. also would it help if i got a variable line driver like the Pac -1 turbo? im have a general understanding of everything, but if there is a simple way to get a cleaner signal so my sub amp doesnt clip on some songs would be nice.

tjamz	Re: LOC vs 2 volt preout rca question That's not a bad LOC. It does 2 Volts of line output as well according to Scosche. Now, I'm a huge proponent of aftermarket radio's as many times the factory ones alter the signal so as not to blow factory components so going with an aftermarket deck makes perfect sense 99.9999% of the time. Having said that I should retract my previous statement about it not making anything sound better because it actually MIGHT. You may have a more true signal going to the amp that will actually pass frequencies as low as the music was recorded once you go aftermarket (this assumes the factory deck was attenuating certain frequencies to begin with). We don't know the deck you are using nor the vehicle the system was in before so we are basing a lot of this on assumptions.

ylpkm	Re: LOC vs 2 volt preout rca question is it possible to measure the voltage from the LOC? i have tried, with the volt meter hooked on the inner rca and outer ring, on voltage both AC and DC and it didn't read any voltage, so i cant compare which scenario would give me a higher voltage input. I had the HU up to the loudness it usually is at with a 60 hz tone and yeah no readings on the volt meter.

tjamz	Re: LOC vs 2 volt preout rca question Better results? Not necessarily. You will still have to level match your amp to the outputs from the deck. You MIGHT get a little cleaner signal via the RCA's but ultimately your amp will still produce the same amount of power if all else is equal.

ylpkm	LOC vs 2 volt preout rca question im switching from using a LOC (since my current HU doesnt have RCA outputs) to a Head Unit with rca (2 volts) outputs either this week or next week, should i expect better results with my sub amp with the new HU? has anyone had a better experience using a LOC?
