Just got an AB VFL100.1 and that thing slams the pair of skars I have in the car right now... Hopefully will have a video tomorrow.

Just got the PPI E.DZ in and mounted in the single din Metra mount, need to make a block off for the top since it is 1/2 din size which I am going to make tomorrow out of the trim piece from a TempVent(the company I work for installs them) which is pretty firm plastic. I will be making it a switch panel and hopefully have room to mount my volt meter too(think it is too big but not sure)

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

Haha, nice. Not entirely, I was actually thinking of keeping the PPI for the highs, running the SAX for mids, and still haven't found anything that stands out for the substage yet but for right now I am focused on mids and highs... I have to rebuild my enclosure anyways and will be sealing off the trunk and all that good stuff so I am just not going to have super bass for a while.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

You're ditching the PPI in favour of an amp worth more than your car?

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

New update... Happened to be talking to a guy on CACO facebook and he came by and dropped off something for me... When he came by he had a friend with him and after talking to them for a few minutes I realized I had actually met them a few years back at a show in 2010. Long story short, some old friends sold me a MINT SAX100.4... So can anyone guess what that means for my setup?

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

So, a little bit of an update. I have decided to take an idea from blackg5's box but instead of doing a single 18 I am going to try 3 separate Quarter wave enclosures mounted together with subs and ports up for my MA-8's, since I now have three along, with the trunk sealed off and the box positioned cross wise in the back seat area. I am going to run two PPI Phantom 600.2's, one for mids and one for highs(I have one along with one pair of the Reactor Audio R2 tweeters) and the mids one will be running two pair of Crescendo PWX 6.5's(two per door). I still haven't decided what amp to run my sub stage off of but all of it will be on a PPI eq with a RF 360 BLD pushing the sub stage around.

Cliffs on projected setup:

(1)PPI E.DZ

Still havent decided on the mono I wanna go with but as long as it is around 1300 rms at 1.33 then we are good.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

Thanks guys, small update, got a pair of T2 Reactor Audio tweets, hopefully they will be in by the end of the week. Also got a PPi 600.2 Phantom for mids, going to get another PPI 600.2 and 4 Crescendo PDX 6.5's and see how I like the mids and highs with that setup... Then continue on my sub stage.

Paint is done aside from front lip, next move, get tires for some of my other sets of rims so I can loose the orange and green.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

Thanks guys, it will still have my green/orange bbs's on it for now but hopefully soon I can get one of my sets of 16's on it until I can put some money into refinishing some of my other rimzes.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

Yeah, I was sweating bullets when the adjuster came out but he was a cool old guy and asked me if I personally wanted it totaled, I told him no and he told me I should make a list of mods I have done, that they add a percent to the value of the car(I had already made one so I gave it to him) and after an hour of deliberation between him and someone on the phone along with him plugging info into his laptop he said they were willing to throw 3800 toward getting it fixed so I gave him my buddy's number and Thursday it was towed to his shop. Now I am waiting on him to work his magic and I will have Burt my Bittersweet Bastard back and he will have new paint all around, now I just need to put new tires on another pair of his shoes so he can strut around in style, then get more bump for the trunk.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

Adjuster talked to my buddy and they agreed on 3800... and he is going to repaint the whole car so IDK what colors I should go with, I wanna go two tone...

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

My buddy who owns D&D Customs of Red Springs NC quoted me $3400 to get it all fixed, now I am just waiting on the damn claim adjuster.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

sorry to hear that.
it's dependent on sub-frame and suspension damage.
the body stuff doesn't look that bad. you can't be looking for the top price shops to get it fixed tho cause that would likely end up being a write off. it's a dirty game the bodywork business, some places give ya quality at a decent price but there are those that charge quality prices for cheap unsafe work.
glad to hear that you made it thru ok and good luck with the rest of this journey.

take care and have fun.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

The insurance company hasn't taken a look at it yet but they said because it is more than 7 years old and it seems the whole drivers side would generally need to be replaced they would "probably" just total it out.

Also mechanically the front subframe is bent, along with the strut and the upper strut tower. Hard to tell but with the steering wheel straight that front wheel has ~10* camber.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

Well unfortunately this build may be over before it even got good...

Explanation from my facebook posts:
Quote:
So i got hit by two cars when leaving work today... IMO the Cobalt may be dead... Mentally tallying up everything to fix it and it is very near the 70% totaled cost for most insurances.... Had that car for 7 years of my life. I can't even bull****, I cried... several times. All because one jackass had to run a light.
Quote:
Yeah, had the green as did the car oncoming, I was attempting to turn left onto Grove Street and the oncoming car was coming straight, I eased forward waiting on him to take his sweet ass time... I see movement to my left and this moron with a jeep is coming straight at my driver's door around 45mph.I slam on the horn and yell "FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK !" and in slow motion the jeep runs the light, clips the oncoming car, slams into my passenger quarter and the oncoming car hits me in my front fender/headlight/bumper/wheel/suspension...
Quote:
If it wasn't for the oncoming car not paying attention I would probably not be here typing. He was coming straight for me... The next time anyone would have seen me would either at the hospital or in a box and I know when it is our time there is no point to fight it but God was looking out for me.

Re: Slobalt7's Log, coming out slow and painfully.

Small update, found a mint Rockford Fosgate .50F cap at a local pawn shop for $20 new old stock still in original packaging. I know they don't really do anything but stress additional electronics but I am thinking of throwing it in for giggles. Still haven't done the big three yet, seems like I have no time and when I do have time I am working on or driving my drift RC car. Now I am trying to buy a house so this build is currently postponed for a while...
