Well. Someone stole my sub. Im super shocked that someone could carry it away...

Luckily they were nice enough to replace it with some no name garbage....

Yes it could be, or just something wrong with the alt like I mentioned early on. It may be that each time those bass lines are hitting the alt turns on and sends a huge voltage spike down that line. And because you don't have a front battery its getting sent right to the back and to your amps.

Re: 07blackg5 2013 Build...HDC3 18"

Voltage spikes are very unusual but if your input voltage is spiking to the 17 range I would guess thats your problem.

The bc2000d is rated to 16.x, but the 3500 and 5500 are rated to 18.x.

correct me if i'm wrong, but from my understanding (in simple terms) when the voltage regulator senses a drop, it burps up voltage output to make up for the drop.

If I play a constant tone and dont "shock" the regulator, everything is fine. The problem only happens when a sudden bass note hits and the voltage drops suddenly (causing it to spike).

Like I said, I dont get even close to enough drop for it to be an issue, and it's obviously safe to assume that spikes of 17v are an issue.

Is it possible that a poor ground would cause this? This is a new issue to me.
I don't know I have the same amp but my voltage is never dropped below 14.5 but I've never seen it spike like that

Ya same for my car, from what I hear. I'm doing it right though and getting some real projectors done up. Unfortunately I ran through all my money, stupid car audio addiction, that I had saved up for retro's.

I'm looking at doing a Bi-Xenon setup running the FX-R 3.0 style projector. In stock form I have separate lows and highs. With this retro I will essentially have two high's (Need to light up these country roads).

Not THE best projectors but will light up four lanes of highway no problem

Re: 07blackg5 2013 Build...HDC3 18"

80PRS FTW. That said I find it incredibly clumsy to navigate. It is hard to use. But it's crossovers and time alignment make it worth it.

For quickly adjusting the sub level, a bass knob might be the way to go. Most amps have one anyways

I'm glad i'm not the only one haha. The thing that bums me out the most is that there is no easy way to adjust the sub level. It takes way too many clicks. On my old unit you pushed the volume knob in once and turned it to adjust the sub level. Then I used the bass knob as a secondary to turn it down if the lowest sub setting was too loud for rock/non rap. This is going to take some getting used to
Ya. Luckily with me I don't use any of the features of the 80 PRS. You may ask why?

The MS8 deals with all that. Then why the 80 PRS? Well as a backup mainly. Plus it looks so good

Re: 07blackg5 2013 Build...HDC3 18"

I think i have it figured out. in each audio setting menu, there are 2 parameters. the levers adjust one and the knob adjusts the other. I still think the lables are stupid. sub 1, sub 2, and sub 3 all have two adjustments within each one. But you dont know which 2 are in sub 1, 2, or 3. That probably doesnt make sense haha. Once I get used to it I will be smoother with it, but its still dumb how vague the lables are

Re: 07blackg5 2013 Build...HDC3 18"

Spent a solid 5 hours installing a head unit. hahahaha

like i said i had to pull pretty much the entire interior because my old head unit had a brain unit under the seat and the wiring was all over the place.

sorry for the super poop pictures. I took them with my vacuum cleaner

Just ripped everything out, stuff everywhere

starting to reassemble

way too big....

My first impression of the 80prs isnt great. Everything seems to be pretty nice except for the interface. It is the most aggravating thing I have ever used. Unless there is some sort of pattern im missing, I might drive my car off a cliff haha. I only played with it for about 20 minutes, so we will see as time goes on. It seems to be feature packed, I just couldn't navigate the adjustments worth a damn. It might not help that Im tired as hell from crawling around my car for 5 hours...

now i have to go back and reset all of my gains and get used to everything all over again. First world problems
