Guys, he is HERE for proper education. Let's help him out instead of pointing him elsewhere.
What gave you the impression we were trying to send him elsewhere and not help him? We already told him he needs to do the big 3 in 1/0, he doesn't really need to spend more money on another battery, and he needs to set his gain properly. He stated he was going to have a shop do it and I suggested he get a dmm and follow the tutorial on here. How is that pointing him elsewhere?

No, a cap will not be helpful. There are a few threads on here that will explain why a regular capacitor will not benefit your electrical.

Did you ever do anything with your gain?

Re: multiple battery info please?

starting from a noobish position and setting my gains with a dmm. my amps were still clipping even though they were underrated amps. Then i bought higher quality HU and amp and now its fine, but I would suggest investing in an Oscilloscope to be sure. why burn a sub and pay for another, when you buy 1 oscilloscope for any future setups or friends' setups. i bought an old oscilloscope and it works great. you could snag one off ebay for ~100$

I suggest you educate yourself on the proper way to do it by reading that thread I linked you. Other, more accurate, ways of setting the gain are to use an oscilloscope or an SMD DD-1. Many stereo shops do not know the proper way to set a gain. You need to watch what they are doing to make sure they aren't going to ruin your equipment!

Re: multiple battery info please?

Should you change your big 3 from 4ga to 0ga? Absolutely. Do you need another battery in the trunk? NOT REALLY. Do you need to set the gain the correct way? YES!!!! Why won't you acknowledge that we are repeatedly asking you how you set the gain? You can upgrade your electrical all you want, but if you have the gain set too high then you will clip no matter what.

Judging by that answer I assume you just turned up the gain to whatever and decided it was good? Go to the amplifier section on here and read the gain setting sticky and set your amplifiers gain appropriately. I bet you are clipping because the gain is set way to high, or the bass boost is cranked, or both.

Re: multiple battery info please?

Get a dmm and see what the voltage is dropping to while playing. How did you set the gain on the amp?
