Re: Trying to learn how to build slot boxes

The tuning will stay the same if it's what you want. As a rule, people go with port area being related to volume, but you also have to take into account the subs excursion. In the past most subs excursion was around 20mm, but newer subs like the SD X and Z have increased to 30mm so need more port area to keep up with the increased pressure inside the enclosure.
Seeing people run more power is a sign of underrated subs becoming more popular.

Re: Trying to learn how to build slot boxes

Question...the more power you have the smaller the box you need, with in the sub spec. Lower power you go for bigger box. Is the tuning the same. I see a lot of people with big boxes and lot of power.

[QUOTE=666WMD;943927]
With those dimensions, are you going to build the box in the trunk? Cos it probably won't fit in through the opening once it's built.

That open is 17", (have to put the box in side ways, then turn it) right now I have the same side box in car with a 8" port. I want to try a slot box and also learn how to tune the port on them.

O and thanks on the port walls...i didn't see that last night. That brings the box to 4.57 net. I can bring down the port length now.

Thanks

Port length is measured down the middle of the port, not along the wall. The one you have pictured would be 28.08".

You might want to change the # of common port walls to 3, it might change the net volume and tuning. At the moment it thinks you are doing a square port touching only one wall of the enclosure.

and are you sure you want to tune that low 27 to 28hz is low as hell....lowest id tune is 29....even at 29 you could dip down to 24hz with authority

Re: Trying to learn how to build slot boxes

well you would need all of the max measurments to make this work and the port would need to be widened to 4.5 inches so do you have 4.5 inches on the side of the box for the port to breath?

Re: Trying to learn how to build slot boxes

Should I just stick with round ports. I might can for 26d. i'll have to check later today if that will help.
