In-line clipping detector? (hardware)

Is there such a thing as an in-line clipping detector? RCA, 3.5mm, 6.5mm, raw wire, etc, etc

I'm talking something affordable and practical enough to be used as a permanent device in-car.

the only thing i can think of is a cheap oscope off ebay for around 75 and either velcro it somewhere or fiberglass it in.

On board ones are usually never accurate. And no.. I had an idea for one but never followed through

Never seen or heard of a good in line one set your gains properly and then you'll know how hard you can push it and stay just before that and your good

clipping by itself isn't bad.. You can dynamically clip all day long..

I don't suggest not clipping at all.
The DMM or oscope method or DD-1 method are all worthless.

They all limit the amplifier's potential.

If under-gaining is your goal, then have at it. That should only be used when attempting to leave tons of headroom open for the amp.

A clipping indicator doesn't work on music either.

If its numbers someone is after yes clipping is your friend but clipping on a daily tune ? Please explain I'm curious and I'm assuming your not talking about a hard clip that looks like a square wave

I didn't understand the first part of your last post but for daily, yes, Clipping indicators are Impossible to accurately detect clipping on music based on their design specifications.

Music is Dynamic, clipping indicators cannot analyze dynamic information properly. Therefore when the light comes on or not on, it's accuracy is shifted on that source material.

They work great on sine waves, nothing more.
Specifically used to indicate distortion via a sine wave but neither music or competition is a good use for the indicator.

Competition- no one cares
Music- inaccurate

Ok I see what your saying now and yes I agree with you 100% that's why I don't use and will probably never use that and thing lol its a marketing gimmick if you ask me lol

Why would you put something inline with your signal? Tune accordingly and you won't need anything...
