Default Amp for 2 Sa-12's

I'm on a budget and was wondering would a Hifonics Brz1700 would be decent for 2 Sa-12s 4 ohm wired to one ohm? I have a 2014 ford focus hatchback with stock electrical except for a Shuriken Bt-20 from my last system. Would any electrical upgrades be necessary

Default Re: Amp for 2 Sa-12's

i would always recommend doing the big 3.
i would also recommend a higher output alt than stock, although stock may be sufficient you will be putting a larger load on it which could result in premature failure/breakdown.

i would recommend electrical upgrades for anything over 1000 watts, but that is a personal opinion.
one of the wise ones will hopefully chime in with some solid advice.

That would be fine but you will need to at least do the big three and add a volt meter to make sure you dont drop too low. Id also look at a second battery in the back to be safe.

The brz 1700 has a regulated Power supply and anything below 13.2 v it starts to make the amp run hot and do way below rated I had one and I would suggest a good beef up on the electrical side...I had mine on a 200 amp alt and 2 55ah batteries and still pulled my voltage down to 13.5 from 15v....so I'd suggest some beefcake batteries or a alt or both

Default Re: Amp for 2 Sa-12's

i think the cap is just gonna be another load on the electrical....add as good of an agm batt as you can in the trunk and the volt meter to keep an eye on things. the big 3 are important and should be handled first

it's never a good idea to skimp on electrical...it's better to be able to supply more than necessary than just enough or worse yet not enough

This might be a dumb question but would getting two 2 ohm subs and wiring them at 2 ohms be easier on an electrical system?

higher ohm load equals less Power output from the amplifier, which is less draw on the electrical system.

them sa's arent going to be happy on 500 watts each.....800 each is where its at...just get everything installed and just keep gain low turn the gain up till you get 13v drop at idle and just work your way up .....add a battery more gain...ya know just work your way up

where did you hear this? I'm almost positive it doesn't have a regulated power supply. Especially since mine made more power at a higher voltage. And mine never really ran hot.. despite not making rated.

mine never did rated and it was regulated at 14.4....so anything below 14.4 would cause the amp to run hot and effiency would suffer alot.....and started to distort when pushed very hard near thermal capacity....even tho the amp never saw below 13.3v it still ran hot enough to melt a crayon but above 14.4 it was ok allmost did rated at 15.8v but protected at 15.9v

Mine barely made 1 ohm rated at 14.5.. but not 2 or 4 ohm ratings.. and mine didn't get hot even into the 11s.. maybe something was wrong with yours.
