Default Sound dampener best bang for buck?

I know it has been asked again and again. Basically I have an 84' s10 base of the base of the base model. No carpet, headliner, or plastic interior pieces. I Want to quiet road noise and engine noise, as well as make any future installs sound better. I have a headliner to put in it, and also I have to fix my windows so both door panels will need to come off anyways so I figure I might as well put them on the doors while I have them off. I don't want super cheap but I don't want the best. What should I get?

Fat Mat, second skin, RF Deadskin, SQ has something. There are a TON of different options, giving you advice on something "average" is hard. Just pick one in your price range and go with it.

Default Re: Sound dampener best bang for buck?

There's a difference between vibration damper and sound damper. Vibration damper will stop panels from flexing, which is what people commonly use but call it "sound deadener". Actual sound deadener stops noise from getting through, also known as noise barriers.
Note the difference with Second Skin products -

Damplifier Pro
Luxury Liner Pro - 1 sheet(9SqFt) - Second Skin Audio

Using vibration dampers like Fatmat etc by themselves won't necessarily reduce the noise from outside to a level that you can enjoy your music. Noise barriers will get your Car as close to a recording studio type sound as is possible in a moving vehicle.

Default Re: Sound dampener best bang for buck?

For just sound dampening Burkeh and I both used an under carpet pad that would be used in a home reduced my road noise drastically and was pretty cheap check out my Build log or burkes for pictures that show what I'm talking about. As far as like deadener like the aforementioned stuff I'd say fat mat works pretty well for the price, would love to try vibraflex though.

Yeah she's a total bass head lol. I can't give exact details but I can give u an idea. Her sub is one I'm building. It's a column based neo. N52. Weighs in just under 100 pounds. 4" coil. Built into a 15. 2 8k amps at half ohm. Re xxx component set up front. I'll have 4 15s on 8 of the same 8k amps at .5 ohm. Can't go into details on those sub's but they aren't neo this time. 8k on my mids and highs amps I'm undecided so far.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will have to check all these ideas out when I get to a computer. I kinda like the carpet padding idea. Seems cheap and real thick. I will check them all out though. Thanks again for the suggestions.
