Ok quick update on the book "The secrets of Car audio"... Chapter 1 = just a story of the average guy going to best buy to buy a car stereo. Nothing more. There's only something like 9 chapters to this book so I hope they cram the "secret" into the last 8.

Hmm, this guy is apparently explaining to the fictional character in the book that his subwoofer peaks close to 400hz because the box is to thin and he needs to either raise his power by (current-power)2^3 or buy subwoofer with a higher spl db/1watt so that it will keep up with his front stage. 87 isnt high enough...

I'm learning so much here lol

yep he recommended a 3200w sub amp just so that it will keep up with his cheap walmart 30w front stage because the sub has a lower spl rating by 3db...

Another update on the book. Chapter 3 wan't really useful at all but did touch on the important topic of cancellation. However it didn't go into any real detail, is only 5 pages long and 4 1/2 of that was a stupid story.

Chapter 4.

To be fair the first 3 pages explained the difference between max power and rms in layman's terms. for him.

But then he went and said something stupid again... "The increased number of strands in the wire decrease the resistance and allow more current to hi the speaker. The audible difference is a tighter, stronger bass.
... Sorry but wrong. High strand count is actually more resistive to DC current. In AC current high strand count can become applicable in high frequency applications (above 10khz would be reasonable) so your tweeters would be the only area potentially affected by this BUT I'm pretty sure noone sends that much current to their tweeters to really give a s*it... If you do actually care then buy oversized cca and your problem is resolved using cheap wire

Yea but I think it was something about spending it on the right stuff. He did some big long story about a guy and a girl who took different upgrade paths and one sounded better and cost less but I don't understand what the difference really was to be honest lol. And connecting the rear speakers and the sub to the same channel on the amp but using an inductor coil to remove the mids and highs from the subwoofer.

Can't agree with you more. Went through that with my brothers trunk, its now sold. Won't let him make that mistake again with his car.
