Anyone have any experience with this sub? Is it good? Will 250W to it be good?

Take a look at this:

Does that mean that Type-E's are not good in vented boxes?

yeah those subs arent really "ported box" subs.. they are kinda like JL w0's, Kicker Comps, etc.. other entry level subs, better off sealed..

My friend has some...for what they are, entry level subs, they actually sound pretty good and can get pretty loud with only 400 watts a pair.

If you want to put them in a ported box the box will need to be pretty big for a flatter response...around 5 cu ft

well thats really about what you need.. if you want to make some entry level subs loud, with recommended power, you need a bigger box.. with a smaller box you need more Power usually.. some subs you just dont port, and some you dont seal.. its up to you, but id honestly put them in a sealed box for best results and better response. with a ported box you'd have to play around with size and tuning, because it wont be easy to get them to sound as good as they can in a ported box.

about 5 cubews for TWO type E's

Sorry about the confusion....it is just that the parameters of the sub aren't really ideal for a small vented box...if the box is small than the response is really peaky...yeah thats good for a burp box but if you want a smooth response for daily the box is gonna need to be big
