Default 6 12s vs 4 18s

Alright heres the deal. Either 6 RE SE 12s or 4 Fi Q 18s. Both will be ported. I was thinking either 2 Soundstream 2000ds or 2 Soundstream 3500ds. I heard the Qs would take a lot more rms than they are rated so I would for the 3500ds or give them their rated rms with the 2000ds. I would only go with the 2 2000ds for the SEs because rms on all 6 would equal 3600 so I would only slightly over Power them. So what do yall think? If I go with the RE SE setup I will save $356. But if I go with the Q setup I will have 339 more cone area and having 4 18s would be badass. ( but so would 6 12s just not as badass ).

I am not fimmilar with either of those lines but I can tell you 4 18's has way more cone area then 6 12's as you indicated above. Personally I would choose the 18's myself. That’s probably why I have already bought 4 18's. But it depends on what you like. 18's are very sloppy. They generally produce sloppy bass compared to 12's. The 12's will sound much tighter. However the 18's can get much lower and possibly louder. If you like high SPL in the low frequency range I would go with the 18's. If you prefer tighter more accurate bass I would go with the 12's.

yes i heard they were sloppy and I do not like that but if I got more of a sq 18 would it still be sloppy? *BECAUSE I AM AIMING FOR SQ AS WELL* forgot to add that in there. Not aiming for but dont wanna have bad sq. Thats why I was thinking the Fi Q 18 for a sq 18.

size has nothing to do with how sloppy or muddy it will sound.

linear excursion.

I will have to agree there to a point. 18's are a lil sloppy but not enough to really notice. if you you are looking for sq i would go the way of the 12's but if you want some serious thump with a lil sq go the way of the 18's

wrong. has far more to do with box, motor strength, and other factors. cone size is hardly a factor in sloppyness...

sloppyness is going to depend on what subs you run and the design of your box. im runnin 4 18's and they are far from sloppy. as long as you get a quality sub and a perfect built box you should be good.

not as of yet. amps being shipped out as of now. the factory making the amps are shipping a few out at a time. couple people in kentucky got thiers already.

but they handled the memphis 4kw's like a champ so far.

*sorry*

seroiusly depends on the subs and application. u can even make crappy subs sound halfway decent with a well built box.

Ive ran them daily (SSX18) with about 6k (VFL's strapped) and then tried it to two strapped 500.1's and it popped the VC's. Waiting to get the cash to send it to treo to get reconed.
