9515....the HD3 is basically a 95 series with no cooling iirc...Im not 100% Sure.

The RE Destroyers have had some issues I've seen in the past, so I'd steer clear of one.

yeah I've been reading up a lot on HD3 and 9500's being very similar, but I was wondering how they would put up against a destroyer.

This whole thing got started when I was asked to compare the HD3 with the DD9500 cooling system and which was the better system. My answer was that the DD9500 had a very extensive system of cooling passages machined into the motor combined with several other features which in total are, I think, the ultimate in cooling design. If one wanted the absolute best in cooling features and money were no object I would choose the DD9500 system.

On the other hand I think the cooling system on the HD3 is as good as it gets other then the DD system. With the exception of the machined passages the HD3 incorporates all the features of the DD system.

How well does the HD3 cooling system work? The simple answer is it works great. Many endusers are burping the HD3's with DDZ1's, Memphis 4000 D's and even higher as SPL140.2 can tell you. I have reconed AQ's to smaller basket sizes for a competitor who had hundreds of full Power burps on DDZ1 amps at very low ohm loads and sometimes strapped. The coils showed no sign what-so-ever of thermal damage and could have been used again.

I rate the power handling on the AQ subs for 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I do not believe in inflated RMS figures and rate VERY conserative. If you toast an HD3 coil you have to be doing something really dumb. I know of only two burnt coils on the HD3 series. The subs were in a competition vehicle with two MA4000's per sub. The competitor stated he had "amp problems and weny into full clipp" and that it was no fault of the subs.

When you purchase a HD3 you get the full package at no extra costs for anything. We Build it the best we can everytime.

You mean BTL...anyway, I still say 9515 unless you planned to use an 18" BTL.

the biggest issue with the destroyer is the use of 4" coil with a 8" spider. this combo does increase Power handling, but does not provide proper suspension throw. the main concern with this sub is to watch the low end extension to prevent the spider from tearing.

Unless you were planning on going with a 9515g, go with the HD3.

It all depends if money is an issue. But in my opinion I would say DD also.

In your opinion do you think dd 9500 D series would be better then HD3?
I do understand that the newer series for DD have better parts and i read somewhere that DD won by very little.

the hd3 are made on the same line as the dd subs. dj the owner of audioque is the father of the son that owns dd. I think you can't go wrong with either. Heck call audioque and talk to dj about which to go with. He has been VERY helpful to me. I am expecting 2 hd312's in soon.

Really?
A buddy of mine, who's also a DD dealer, is selling the Gs for $100Cdn less than he sold the F-series for.
And with the composite cone upgrade, it's several hundred dollars cheaper than the old 9900s were.

I can't see things being different south of the border. Hell, if anything it should be even cheaper.
