Do you have the remote bass boost to the amp plugged in? I had a similar problem like this. If you do, unplug it and see if it still happens.

what does coils spun mean?
about the powersurge.. well all i know is that even when i turn the hu off it still pops and i have to just take off the faceplate sometimes.
as for the box to big.. i really dont think this would be the problem..
they are wired corrcetly
i played with the gain a little but i dont know abouut eq and frequncy as they dont have anything telling u the numbers or anything like 40-20k or anything.

grab the rca jacks going into the amp and move them around. you could have the rca jacks is the amp that is broke on the inside and making the sub pop........mtx amps are bad about having the rca jacks break......but it could be somehting else to ...????
