They're both good companies. Anything posted after this is just based of personal preference.

Depends on which specific drivers your talking about, I mean you cant compare a DD9500 to a FI-Q. Also which aspects are you comparing? Either way the dd drivers are prolly 3X as expensive as the FI-BTL with somewhat simmalar proformance, personally I wouldnt spend $1500+ on a DD sub. Check out Audioque, their HDC-3 makes the FI sound like bestbuy subs and preforms almost equal to the DD-9500 but costs under $250

...because EVERYBODY knows that SPL means EVERYTHING!!! Dude, regardless of what Alan Dante has done, that doesn't necessarily mean DD is BETTER. Honestly, neither one of you own, or have ever owned a product from either company, so you really have no idea what the hell you're even arguing about. Not trying to be a dick, and I hope you guys don't take this the wrong way, because if you take this as an insult, you got me all wrong. I'm just saying. To one person, "better" might mean the best sound quality, to the next, better might mean SPL. And as of this date, there's absolutely NO such thing as the best of both worlds, you can have relatively great sq with relatively high SPL, but you're going to be sacrificing a little of one for the other no matter what. Trying to figure out which Car audio company is better is roughly the equivilent to arguing about whether Dodge is better than Chevy or Ford, visa versa, and otherwise. Everyone has their own opinion. In fact, I gaurantee there's quite a few people on this forum that would say neither is the best. It's all preference.

Exactly. But there wasn't really a need for a paragraph. I basically summed it up in one line lol.

Just because he recommended it doesnt mean its better lol. Both are good companies and if money wasnt an issue, then you can just flip a coin. When you start narrowing the models down to power, size, price, etc. then thats when one takes over the other.

Yes, that was me.

Notice, I never said that Fi or DD was BAD. They're both excellent companies. I was simply saying that to compare as far as which is "better" is irrational. I don't know much about DD personally. Never owned one, and I don't know anyone who owns one, I know they get loud as balls though. I sat in Alan Dante's daily driver with three 8s, and it was loud. I do however have a few friends with Fi, and I like them.

meh, not a fan of huge fan of the ssd. I would rather see you save up the little extra dough and get a Q or BL. I would choose the Q.

Cheap and loud. You can also check out the 912s by DD. or even the 1515s. See both companies can do you good. lol.

Dantes build has very little to do with the woofer itself. He was doing high 170's with other woofers, he didn't mention names but he said the DDZ was the only one that could get the 180 mark. Dantes car is loud because of the way he has it designed. So basically he can do high 170's with many, many woofers.
