Default IA 20.1 vs Audioque 2 15" SDC2.5s

Herm...

I'm kinda stuck on this one.

I currently have a Silverado 1500 (i have a pic thread FYI) and i found a girl that lives a few miles away and she wants to sell me her Car

Her car is an 85 (around that era) Caprice sdn. sitting on 22s...and its got the 350 and 4 spd.
It was fully restored and runs perfectly.
The gas mileage is stightly better that the 1500 too (also has a 350 )

Either way, it's bone stock aside from the rims.

I've got plenty of room for 2 15s in the trunk but I have a problem

I don't have the money to buy a new amp when I have a 20.1 that can/will be fixed for around $180.

The problem is that 20.1s are fairly underrated...I've heard of them putting out 2kw @ 1 ohm on only 13v in a daily set up.

I don't doubt Audioques products one bit but some thing tells me that the 20.1 will kill the coils.

It will just be a normal ported box (7ish cubes and around 100^2" of port tuned to 32-36hz)

I know some one will say "Just turn the gain down!".
Well, that would be a great idea but some subs have no way to tell if they are being over powered till the coils fry or the glue melts or the 3x joint snaps.

So what would you guys do?
Just be on the safe side and keep the gain down so the amp can only put out 1200w (give or take a little) or risk it and give the subs all the 20.1 has to offer in a dialy set up?

BTW: I will have the electrical to back up the amp and I know how to use a o-scope to keep the signal from square waving on me.

Clipping and voltage drop have already been taken into account

Based on past reviews of that sub, I'd guess you could run a conservative 800w to them daily.
Just keep the gains lowish to about 1500-1700w. Should do fine after box rise and the like.

Can you think of some cheap subs that can take the power? (you know what i mean by cheap)
I was thinking about going with 4 10s or even 12s but the AQs seem to have the best price/performance ratio out of every thing else i have come across.

All I need is a reliable system that gets really loud on music and sounds pretty nice with out having to spend out the ass.

2 15" OZ MEs would probably do the job.

I've heard plenty of setups with the 10s and they get nasty on the lows and plenty loud even in those pro-box things.

They can handle quite a bit of Power too...maby just enough for my application.

I can't imagine what the 15s would do in a well designed box :P
