Default Whats wrong with Type X?

Alright guys, so i brought one of my special mixes into Tweeters tonight, it was ironically labeled ~Listen to this if you want to blow your subs.

So anyway, i go into the tweeters sound room, pop my CD in one of the decks then select a 12 inch Alpine Type X that was in a Ported Box, and had it running off a JL audio 1000/1 Amp, that thing was WANGIN, i dont know what you guys are talking about saying that theyre not loud, but it seemed pretty d*mn loud too me and hit every note with perfect precision, funny thing was after i got done demo'ing my CD i left the room with a overwhelming smell of voice coil behind... im sure the salesmen loved that when he went in later on :P But i had the ceiling and lighting rattling and this was all from a single 12 inch type X in a small ported box running of a JL Audio 1000/1 Amp, it was pretty loud

Never heard a type x but have been told good things. By the way, what do you mean by the smell of voice coil ,do you mean the smell when you breaking a new sub in or the smell when you fry the sh!t out of the voice coil. Ether way you will never be allowed back there lol

i was in the soundroom and i had it cranked up so loud that the people on the outside, on the other side of the store were coming in and looking in at me, i was playin Bass, I love you, and some other goodies on the good ol Type X in a ported box and then i started to smell it and was like i better turn it down, so i turn it down and then 20 seconds later the smell goes from a little whiff of something, to hitting you like a brick in the face.. it was a nice burning coil smell, not a new sub break in smell, i took a trip back there today and the guy that was running the Car audio department told me that "It was awsome" and that he had "never heard that sub move like that before" , the guy was almost excited that i almost blew his Type X off a JL 1000/1, and hes like what do i care? we have alpines warranty ill just get another one lol

i think im gonna go back again after i get off of work with my trusty digicam and take a video of some subs playing some select songs in the showroom :P

My brother has 3 10" Power Acoustik subs. He has 2 FUBRs and 1 FUBAR. They pound pretty good right now with a Power Acoustik X2-1200 amp. I think he should upgrade to 3 10" Alpine Type-Xs and a PA A3000DB. That would be like at least 700 watts to each sub. He already has a box and everything and I think it would shake his car to sh**. What do you guys think of that?

I said 700 watts per sub, but if the one guy (can't remember the screen name right now) who said he benched his amp at 2600 watts, I could get almost 900 watts to each sub.

Thats so funny that you blew there sub. You should get a vid when they get it warrantyed. Yea here at Circuit City they have a display place with alot of kicker, bazzoka, and audioban subwoofers and i have been kicked out of that place so many times, they must hate me. Hey pd8731 that would be insane if he had 3 type x in a ported box. Yea 700 watts rms would be ok, that way you dont strain them. Also if your bro wants to sell them power acoustiks let me know.

I remember the name of the amp being X2-1200, but I remember seeing 1600 in big numbers on the amp. Hmmm...

I love my Type-X 12. Excellent SQ, I listen to a lot of classical, it is great!
I am only running ~600 watts to it tho, so not quite to its fullest potential, but the sub can get really loud on certain bass passages, even though its in a sealed box, isobaric-mount.

I've been told that X types are more of a SQ sub than a SPL sub, is it true>?
