Both of them and neither of them.

BUT instead of being an asshole like every other lazy mother fvcker here and just asking you a question that you would probably feel is already just kinda there... I'll help you out.

You say "louder" so you are probably going for that "gorrilla loud" as loud as you can get with little regard to amazing sound quality. With that being assumed you should go for the Type R. A while ago there was a huge boner on this forum because they were amazingly loud subwoofers for the money and people were winning countless competitions with them.

Type X's are more meant to be a sound quality woofer and there really were no "amazing" feedback for these subs. To be honest the only ones ive ever seen on this forum were blown.

I hope this helps!

The older type r's are only 300 rms and dont have as good cooling on the coil... like he said go with the type r that has the ridged surround. If it's a smooth surround it's the older version that's not nearly as good.

The Type X was ment as an SQ sub. The Type R was ment as a groundpounder.
Two different subs for two different purposes.

now i think type R are just overrated.

i had 2 12" feeding them 1600rms. i thought they were really good and sounded maazing in ported and 4th order bandpass.

i switched to 2 premier 3004spl with the same amp. the premiers are much much much loued then the R.

i also happened to check an old school stroker 15" on 900rms alpine amp. along with a 15" type R. (ported box)

the type R can go low for sure. stroker just buckles.. but the typr R were not even half as loud as the stroker. and keeping in mind the stroker were underpowered and the type R were over powered.

therfore i think type R are really over rated.

for $200 for the 15" and $100 for the 10's you can go wrong. yeah it more of an intermediate setup but get 4 10's and you'll be set or 2 15's. i have 2 tens and my friend has 1 solo x 12" and my sounds better. His hits the lows harder but such a small freq and the sq isnt the greatest. Im not saying type r's are beter but **** its like $600 dollars cheaper online. Retails for like $1000 dollars cheaper. Dont get me wrong solo x's are the ****. And he's not even pushin it to it full potiental. He's getting a second 12 and another amp and hes going to be ****tin on my other buddy that has 4 15 inch RE SE's i think. thats sad that 2 12's can out play 4 decent 15's. Although all 4 15's only need 1000 watts and the 2 12's need what 5000RMS!
