Default So WTF happened to my hdc3??

Well last time you guys heard my aq2200d kept going into protect, well i found out why!

Both sets of leads were seperated from the spiders and touching each other. It ripped straight through the spiders.... What the heck happened?

The pictures are bad i know, the magnet on the sub was messing up the camera, i can try getting better ones if you cant see them that good.

its only a month old.... the other hdc3 dosnt have any of this going on, any help would be great.

Default Re: So WTF happened to my hdc3??

look at the mounting point of the leads as comparison to the rips it looks like the spider was not lined up with the mounting points of the leads(spider looks to the right of the terminals) making them much shorter that would explain them tearing under normal use manufacturer defect but I could be wrong?

Default Re: So WTF happened to my hdc3??

goingdef brings up a good point. The spider landing looks roated out of alignment with the lead-in wires. When the sub moves in or out it stretches the tinsels out, ultimately ripping them out like they did. This would explain why it happened on both tinsels of one sub. The other sub is probably aligned properly.

This is what my SD2.5's look like, aligned properly:

Compared to this:

Red lines are my approximation of where the tinsels were improperly aligned, green lines are roughly where they should have been.

I'd say product defect. Call up AQ and let them know what happened, they'll take care of you.

you guys see how it's off center too look how much the leads look like they would go tight with very little excursion and of course tear with a decent amount but I guess that's obvious

Wow thanks alot guys, i talked to DJ for a while, he was convinced i was clipping it, but i sent him some pics and havnt heard from him yet. And blkbeateri hear ya, mine was about $250 and a 10 meg. but for some reason when it got to the sub it shut off, then said the batt was low, after i pulled it away and turned it of and on it worked fine. But i will bring that point up with dj

If you're clipping the amp wouldn't BOTH subs show some type of damage then? :\

I would check the other sub very closely for damage. Personally I think this sounds like a Build quality issue but DJ knows his subs better than anyone. I'm sure he'll treat you right.

It's because you dont know how to use it well.

with a 10 mega pixle camera you could have pulled you camera out a whole nother foot, took the picture and then cropped it to just the portion you wanted and it would have been crystal clear. There is SO MUCH DEPTH to a 10 mega pixle picture that you DO NOT need to fill the lcd screen with the picture... common mistake.

another thing you could have used is the macro function.

I dont see how clipping, aka dirty signal, would RIP a tinsel lead out of the spider. I think it's more an alignment problems.

its a cheap point and shoot, its expected.

and theres not necessarily depth @ 10mp, a good 4-6mp will outperform a cheap 10mp any day.

the poor pic quality is probably the fact that the camera was too close to the motor causeing it to do some funny things

i had problems with my hdc3 also the spider was ripped at the triple joint and DJ had told me that the older ones did that when you played a tone way below your box tuning and now he has changed like 5 different things on them to stop them from doing that but your problem like stated above looks to me like alignment issues he will prolly repair it for you ull jus have to pay to ship it there

Just an update, talked to dj a couple of times, well heres what he had to say in some emails

"The lead wires ripped out because the spiders ripped from over excursion"

"
You ripped the spiders which pulled the leads out. Looks like a lot of over excursion going on playing rap/hip hop at excessive Power levels without proper break in. I also see some signs of lead charring from clipped amp.

I ordered a recone. Thing is i left both of them for 8 hours on low volume to break in, and the first week i never took them over 3/4 volume. I pulled the other one out again just to double check, all the leads are like they were new, and the spider had NO damage at all. And i made sure it wasnt clipping. In the one that broke the VC isnt burnt at all...... I dont know, maybe it was a defect, maybe something crazy 1 in a million happened to it. But DJ was very nice and friendly the whole time.

High megapixel count != good pictures
Point an shoot's can take great pictures, it's usually more of how the person uses the camera then the quality or type of camera it is...

If you want the full res pic to see just how clear and detailed this "point and shoot" camera picture (which only cost 140 bucks) then send me an email and I'd be glad to send it to you.
