Oh. Ok. But will it hurt it if it's clipping?

there's a test on another forum where they used a square sine wave at certain Power levels to see where clipping hurts stuff, and in there tests when it involved low power the sub was not hurt. but it doesn't mean it should be clipped

I told you. Now you can start palying with different types of enclosures to get exactly what you want out of that sub. And yes, clipping is a BIG no no so don't keep doing it and hurt that nice sub that you have a found new love for.

ok let me chime in i own a pair og the hfi's and they are good (to a certain point) they are Power hungary believe it or not and if space is an issue put them in a sealed box with about 1.10 cubes each thats what mine used to be in they were tight but for bass go with a 2.25 or 2 ported i have mine in a sealed 1.9 and they are already sounding better w/o the port

I had a set of the Hfi12d4s a while back... didnt believe in them b/c I thought they were some kinda gimmick; so I grabbed a pair for sh*ts & giggles to test them out. They were decent subs & when u factor in the price, they were a HELLUVA steal! I had them in a slot ported enclosure 2.5ft3 per sub tuned to about 40-42Hz... IT WANGED!!!!!
I eventually had a bad experience with them (totally my fault) which caused me to move on... I believe I had them tuned toooooo high. And I had them running on an Old School Hifonics Centurion X. Each sub was wired to a 2ohm load to seperate channels (they were probrably seeing about 250-300watts rms each).... I ended up blowing them. The amp had no sub-sonic filter so Im sure I was bottoming the HELL outta the subs with the box being tuned so high. But they held up for a while under that stress & the loudness was ridiculous.

I cant complain; they were great subs especially for $25 bucks. I moved on to something else but Im leaning towards going back to them... I'll probrably try several of them sealed this time @ about 1.25ft3 each. I want to try ported again but Idk...

only 15 mm of xmax lol, that's why there isn't much surround... or actually that should be backwards but o well

there's no reason for big surround if the spider and other soft parts only allow for that low of xmax, be a different story if there was around 20+mm of xmax

when most company's rate there xmax of the drivers its the 70% bl method, so max is not using that method, and using a different method, or when it is going to what you say 20+mm its non-linear

i know what the specs say.. i know different tho from hands on experience...and they are linear at 1" excursion.. thats why they have dual spaced spiders. whether or not it was intended is beside my point...lol

kid-wit bass now that you have the box for the 15 built why not get the amp from sic and see what you really have with that sd2.5 it will love that kind of power and you just might be getting some where..power that sub with some real power. i have seen a lot of your posts so what Car are you going to put the 15 and amp in?and get that amp before you buy any more crap. 110 is a great deal.

You need MORE POWER! Cassette tapes FTW! I can never tell much with video cameras on Youtube.

As for the Hfi's, I decided to try one out to see if I was missing anything. BAD HEADACHE! Good for a certain short range, but not at all tight or clean and won't hit low. Not very efficient, either. Had to rig something up to go from 8ga to 14. Not bad for $25, but there are better drivers out there for the same price.

better for 25$??? are u on crack? you HAVE to share these elusive 25$ woofers you speak of with us dude.. cuz waaaaay to many other people have busted 150's with a few of these and they got low just fine...

and how efficient do you want a weak motor sub to be? i mean really dude...they are 25$ !!!!
