Default Epic? Does it live up to the name?

I've been doing some research since my financial situation shifted, and I've had to start planning my Build all over again. I've been looking at subs like the Alpine Type-R 12", Kicker CVR 12", SSA Dcon and Icon 12", and the TC Epic 12".

I know enough about the others to compare them to one another, but I can't find ANY reviews on the TC Sounds Epic. Does anyone know how they sound sealed? Ported? I'm looking for more of a SQ system with the ability to get loud and sound clean. If anyone has any experience or input and could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

- Jared

Default Re: Epic? Does it live up to the name?

Umm.. they sound ok, totally not worth what you pay for, and tc is overall garbage, but best of luck in whatever you choose!

Yeah, unfortunately I've heard that TC's gone to ****...and that's why I asked. So I'm glad I posted up here about that.

Would the Icon's sound good in a sealed box? And if the pricing becomes a problem since the Icon's are a bit more expensive, how are the Dcons?

if your looking for sq and if the icon ends up being out of your range check out the t3 audio t600's or t1000's there known to be sql drivers with a little more oriented towards sq.

wow... no love for TC eh? i would put it way above anything listed here...the icon would be fairly close at least on paper... the kicker and alpine don't even belong in the same listing as the other 3...

Lol, what a joke. I've owned 20+ TC/AP drivers and never had a quality issue. 3 out of my top 5 favorite subs are TC built, noob.

Default Re: Epic? Does it live up to the name?

Wow, apparently what I'd been hearing about TC was wrong. Sorry about that you guys. Id heard they used to be good but were starting to fall off due to cheaper parts.

Looks like the Epic is still in the running then. I looked at the t3 T.600 and it looks good. Sic, I know we'd talked this topic into the ground a while back so I'm sorry to show up seemingly starting over. I guess the question I have is, for value of the dollar, which is better, the Epic or the T600?

thats a tough call there J...i like em both...great sq but i think the epic may get louder when done right... put a softer suspension on it and I guarantee it will not only get louder it will play lower and cleaner

Will the Epic sound good in an appropiately sized sealed box? Or would it reallyyyyy just like a ported enclosure more overall?

I have owned over 30 tc drivers and currently still have 30+ drivers and motors all tc built. I personally never had a quality issue except for one 5200 with a mis aligned coil. I was not the original buyer and thilo took care of it no questions asked.

Most of the failed drivers I have seen stem from users pushing them beyond there designed long term Power ratings

Now it is true they are made I'm china now.

Alright, the only reason I ask is because I'm looking for a little bit better response and SQ from my stereo now, and I know I'll want the same thing when the time comes up upgrade.

Parts Express has the TC Epic 12 listed at $193.33, should I consider buying it through them? Or does anyone know of a place that I could potentially find them priced lower?

Good to know. Thanks again Sic you always come through. Looks like when the time comes, I'll be picking up a pair of Epic 12s. If I have any more questions or anything, I'll definitely post up.

Thanks again you guys, Jared.
