Theres no reason why you could not have had both the W6's hooked up to that amp without issue or concern. My opinion, those subs would have been underpowered, judging of course by my standards... So that being said make sure you tune correctly before you have future issues with new drivers..

Well they're rated at 300w rms, and at 1.5ohms they were probably getting 400w-450w a piece, which I have heard is not a problem at all for the first JL 12W6s

what doesnt make sense is how only one went, could it have to do with the age?

fyi i bought them from a guy at work who had 6 of em in his wrx, and I have no idea how he was running them so maybe they had a little wear and tear

either way, i blew a memphis 16-1000D running them, and they ran fine on a bridged pioneer GMX-552, which was clearly underpowering them

I doubt its a Power handling issue, I just sat out in an accord with 2 12" JL W6's running off an old school PPI amp subs being way overpowered and they were fine.

Now I don't have vids or pics as this was done during a quick break at work but being 100% honest. Maybe it was just the subs time to go?

I still have one of em running at 3ohms on the SAZ-1000D, so im assuming its gettin 4-500 watts and it sounds great. i guess i'll live with that for now until I pick up a new box/subwoofers

I know this is kinda strange but did you test the ohm reading on the Wire itself? Without sub attached... I recently had an issue with my 6.5" woofer on my passenger side not playing at all... Testing the Ohm readings at different places resulted in an 8 ohm reading all the way down the wire until we tested the the woofer itself which read 4 ohm's... After some time we figured that the wire must have been pinched or shorted and cutting a section of wire and tested infinite ohms. After yanking things apart the wire must have shorted somehow as it wasn't warn or anything... the casing was intact... anyway just thought I would say something
